Commercial Description:
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. This time around we used some unmalted wheat, just the right touch of Kaffir Lime Leaf, and a really cool Belgian yeast. The result is a bit like a strong Biere de Garde / Saison-esque influenced beer coupled with some aromatic Bavarian Hefeweizen style phenolic banana esters, and a backnote hint of lime from the lime leaf.

Poured a cloudy orange gold. Nose was of orange zest, honey, and peach. Taste was very good, a little sticky in mouthfeel, tons of honey, nice lemon and orange, not too complex, but very tasty and has held up surprising well.

22 ounce bottle at the Relentless Thirst Gathering in Richmond, VA, 8.29.09. A totally unintentional 2100th rating. Cool. Pours a clear golden amber color with a thin head. Syrupy honeyish aroma with spicy and nutty notes. Taste is honey, bread, peppery spice and leafy notes. Also some toastiness and fruitiness. Medium bodied,

At a tasting, thanks Shahar, murky orange with lots of sediments floating around. aromas of orange marmalade, apricot vanila and a hint of mud, flavours of peach and vanila pudding with a strong alcoholic presence, medium to full body, short bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours with a hardly any head and a deep golden body. Aroma of raisins, bread, honey and berry. Taste is baked bread, berries, oxidation, banana and must. Tickling carbonation and a water like mouthfeel. Still quite good.

As much as people complain about eBay, I scooped this bottle and a couple of others in an auction on the cheap. Pours hazy orange. Aroma is very sweet with citrus and honey. Very sweet flavor, it is almost buttery. Good clove and sweetness. It really held up a lot better than I would have thought. I remember tasting lime when I had this fresh back in 04 (my first Stone beer) but I don’t find a hint of it now. Good stuff...how do I get a hold of an 03 now?
