Commercial Description:
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. This time around we used some unmalted wheat, just the right touch of Kaffir Lime Leaf, and a really cool Belgian yeast. The result is a bit like a strong Biere de Garde / Saison-esque influenced beer coupled with some aromatic Bavarian Hefeweizen style phenolic banana esters, and a backnote hint of lime from the lime leaf.

lightly glowing coppery orange color w/ a full fluffy off white head and some nice lacing. Smell is quite fruity some maybe apricot and mango some lightly floral notes a bit of juicy leafy aromas and a hint of alcohol. Palate is fluffy well coated and lightly creamy. Flavor is very fruity and a bit dry w/ an almost acidic quality. Notes of mango and apricot some juicy qualities some orange rind light alcohol prevelant in the finish. Decent beer.

Quick thankyou to Kook for lobbing this one back from the U.S., amongst others. Served up at backyard patio temperature at a small tasting here in Perth.
Sunny orange-gold with a bad case of the ’sea-monkeys’. Good, solid, creamy white head formed that held and laced well. ’Ajax’ and bleach singed the nostrils first before a burst of concentrated orange and lemon juice attacked what was left. A plastic, yeasty, solventy and woody, nutty palate prevailed in the mouth not quite coming together. Is this supposed to taste so chemical, I doubt it!. It is extremely dry but heavily draped in acidic citrus fruits, very bitter on the peak of the swallow and yeasty into it. Body is smooth, not big but viscous in a way it overstayed its welcome. I really need to try this one again, it doesn’t quite work at all. (1 pint, 6 Fl.Oz, age unknown)

Nice brown gold color with white head. Fruity aroma with a touch of roast. Flavor was same with spices of clove that finish a little hoppy.

Thanks to Kook! Golden coloured body with a short head. Mandarin and mushy banana in the taste and I wasn’t too enthusiastic about the nose.

Part of the 02 thru 06 vertical at YourDarkLord’s house. Thanks to Rooftoprogue for bringing this to the table. Pours hazy golden amber with a white head. Perfumy aroma of wheat malt and cloves. Flavor of wheat malt, spice, and lots of clove. Notes of white pepper on the chalky finish.

BA BBF 06. Aroma of this beer was very spicy, and had some yeast and fruit. Taste was about the same, spicy finish.

From a 22oz Bottle. Cloudy, pale orange pour with a quickly receding white head. Sweet, sugary orange aroma with a bit of banana and some herbal notes. Medium bodied with a smooth, creamy texture. Plenty of light fruit flavors conjure up images of peaches and pears with a touch of the lime coming through on the backend of the palate. Herbal finish with a touch of yeasty spice.

I did not care very much for this beer. Reminded me mostly of bananas and leaves, which is not surprising as the commercial description says that it should taste that way, but it simply doesn’t work as an overall product for me.
