A bit of citrus lime pops up, but none of the hefe influence claimed on the bottle. Color is as orange as I have ever seen, so it is interesting, but not exactly appealing. No head. Very little carbonation and extremely watery. A tad bit of alcohol in the flavor as well. brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Enjoyed with friends on the 4th of July as a vertical tasting. Pours golden with lovely carbonation and a light but lasting head. Grassy, spicy, pepper aroma with biscuit malts and a sharp acidic citrus hint. The flavor has caramel, spice, grass, clove (perhaps ginger). Interesting overall. Some malt sweetness and noble like hop presence. Well balanced. Creamy body. I enjoyed 03 better but this was not bad. redlight (1496), Winter Park, Florida, USA

Pours a slight hazed orange with a creamy one finger froth, that recedes and leaves minute lace. Aromas are a blast of pineapples, yeasty esters, mint sprigs, banana. and malts. Sweet fruity mint flavours are nice. Lots of plum, pineapple, yeasty with white bread. Sugared citrus fruit finish. A good example, glad I drank it now, as I don’t see it lasting too much longer. Thanks for the opportunity Paul! RCL (1496), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

I was surprised to hear the ingredient list, as I had a hard time pinning down the flavors. Definitely worth a try, especially if you like Belgian Strongs. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2006 Managed to find a bottle of this. Poured out with ample carbonation to bring about a thick white head. The color has a hazy orange-ish hue. I get the aroma of lime and banana mixed with alcohol, interesting. There is a bit of malt aroma hiding out in the back. The taste reminds me of many a Belgium type beer with the spice presence along with the twisted yeast-lime-banana-hop combination. The flavors are just picked from the garden fresh. jzzbassman (850), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 23, 2006 I really wanted to like this more, but I couldn’t get past this medicinal/ jello flavor. Starts very bright citrus, and then gives way to an aftertaste that reminds me of fruit "flavored" candies. The banana is quite a bit to me, with a band-aid hit. Smells really nice, and for fans of the hefe flavors I’m sure quite nice.
At least it isn’t boring, and well worth a try, even if not my cup of tea. Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2006 Had this as part of a tasting of the 03, 04, and 05. This one really stood out. There was a lot of drinking in a public place this night, so my description isn’t as detailed as usual. This had your standard witbier flavors - bright citrus and corriander, slightly tart wheat. But there were some extras as well: it definitely was bigger than a typical wit, the lime flavor hasn’t melded with the other flavors yet - it definitely stood out, and there was quite a bit more bitterness than a normal wit, such that it was out of balance. We’ll see how it tastes in another 6 years...
