Commercial Description:
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. This time around we used some unmalted wheat, just the right touch of Kaffir Lime Leaf, and a really cool Belgian yeast. The result is a bit like a strong Biere de Garde / Saison-esque influenced beer coupled with some aromatic Bavarian Hefeweizen style phenolic banana esters, and a backnote hint of lime from the lime leaf.

Shiney golden amber body... white fizzy head. Flowers, lavender, honey, banana aroma... reminiscent of Midas Touch. Nice and pleasant. Flavor is sweet with vanilla and lavendar flowers, watermelon, banana, peppery citrus hops. Hops add some bitterness to the predominently sweet character. Late finish has something odd... papery steak. I don’t know. And I really have no idea what lavendar is... it just fits. The beer has a simple complexity... sweet? Yes. Obnoxiously sweet? No.

Bottle at Fall Beerfest In Toronto 2004. Pale orange in colour. Aroma was floral with notes of oranges, bananas, yeast and spices. Flavour had some alcohol up front, quite floral, orange and maybe some lime. Medium body and medium carbonation. Finishes with a lingering bitterness. Will it last, only time will tell.

Aroma of peach/bananas. Nice and fruity. Pretty well balanced, something alittle tiny bit off but i can’t really pin point it. Lots of peach flavor. Nice and satisfying especially on a warmer day.

Noticable lime-citrus hoppiness combines with a banana-sweetness in the aroma. Enticing. Nice malts and hops in the citric flavours and a lingering finish. Cheers to Radek for bringing this one to the Toronto Fall Gathering.

22oz Bottle courtesy of Sick_boy282: Clear honey orange with a pink tint, small white head, tiny bubbles visable rising to the surface. Smells sweet and medium spicy, notes of nutmeg, phenols, lime, alcohol, honeydew melon, caramel, flowers, bread. Light to medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel. Tastes fruity - apple, orange, banana, clove, pear - at least some of the fruit flavors taste like they come from the yeast. There’s a melon/light caramel sweetness in the background, leaves, mint, and just a hint of planty lime and alcohol for some tartness. Nicely balanced.

This one tastes a lot better tahn it looks (imo). Pours hazy orange with a layer of white head. Smells sweet, spicy (nutmeg or cinnamony or something) and malty, taste is similar to the smell, nice and sweet with some cinnamon/clove spice in there. finishes a little bitter. the mouthfeel is a little lacking (thin), but still pretty good.
