Commercial Description:
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. This time around we used some unmalted wheat, just the right touch of Kaffir Lime Leaf, and a really cool Belgian yeast. The result is a bit like a strong Biere de Garde / Saison-esque influenced beer coupled with some aromatic Bavarian Hefeweizen style phenolic banana esters, and a backnote hint of lime from the lime leaf.

Gold tone color with a diminshing white head and funky bannana aroma. This tasted awful at first but i warmed up to its sweet and wheaty body. Malt is present along with a tiny lime twist. I paid over $7 dollars to try this out because it is near impossible to find this and i guess it was kinda worth it. It says it will be perfectly aged in December 2012 so i plan to buy another pint and save it for few years and see how much better it got.

Poured a golden color, with a medium white head. Aroma was yeasty and fruity. Flavor was slightly sweet, not too bad, this was a different flavor for my taste but not bad at all.

This beer is a rich yellowish-gold color with a medium thick white head and fair lacing. The aroma is very kinetic - spice, yeast, banana and hops abound. Medium-bodied, with a flavor reminiscent of both a Belgian and a strong Hefe. Citrus, spice, hops and bananas all vie for attention. There is almost too much going on in the flavor. Spicy alcohol and sweet fruit and yeast in the finish. I liked this one substancially more than the 03.03.03, but I think it would improve a bit with more age.

Lime and wheat are notable in the sweet aroma with plenty of spices to tie it all together. Orange-brown, almost opaque with decent white head that diminishes to cover with some sudsy lacing. Lime marries well with the spices. Wheat character is definitely noticable. Soft, smooth mouthfeel, medium-light body and engaging carbonation. Paired with strong soft cheese (Lechevalier Mailloux) very well. An interetsting beer to be taken in small quantities especially as an accompaniment to strong flavoured food. Not the kind of beer to simply sit and drink in any appreciable quantity. Bottle enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere.

Orangish-gold in colour topped by a medium thick head with good lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and slightly yeasty with a touch of spice. The flavor is slightly sweet with a nice banana flavor. Yeasty notes with a slight bitter hoppiness. Grassy, citrus flavor. I guess this is the lime. I like it, I think I’ll try it in one of my future brews.

Kaffir lime leaves and citrus zest create an enticing perfumy mist over the ample malt background...Wheat is apparent and plays off the lemony spiciness quite effectively...A curious novelty ale which caresses the tastebuds pleasurably for a while but gets a bit tiring towards the end of the glass...A très spicy lifestyle...

No head on top of a deep golden, almost clear body. Obvious lime in the nose. Nice honeyish malt. Mostly pleasant although the yeast strain appears a bit dull to me if not quite in the same line than avery’s. Toasty, hoppy and spicy nose. Even spicier in mouth where sage and mint abund and match the floral and citrusy profiles. Rather hot altogether, heating to say the least and even more so after a few sips. Weird body, it doesn’t quite coat the mouth, it just seems to stay in the middle of the tongue and carbonation is a bit low for the fair medium-full body.
