| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2004 We should have saved it - we are to gready and we knew - damn it. Nice orange brew, medium frothy head, fizzy carbonation. Light orange nose, grapey bitter taste, also lime. Intense yeastyness. Medium long lasting. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 30, 2004 Bottle. Golden beer with a good white head. Aroma is a mixture of yeast, hops, lime, and malt with the lime and banana dominating. Taste is of yeast and malt with a little citrus - a slightly heavier wit beer with more depth. Very good beer that finishes clean, smooth, and has you wanting more. Alcohol is there, but not too strong. Not your typical Stone and I wish it would become a regular... Should not be classified as a Belgian strong ale - much less sweet. BeanDip (107), Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 30, 2004 Thanks again to matta! Now this is more like it. Beautiful golden color - nice white head. Smells like a cross between a nice Belgian Triple and German Hefe. Banana fruit and spicy nose. Flowery. Smooth texture. Mildly bitter bite on the finish but very enjoyable. joshpiledean (227), Ames, Iowa, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2004 Poured cloudy and golden, very small head. Hoppy and fruity nose. Inital pull is smooth and creamy with fruity notes taking up the front. A little hoppy and some light alcohol tones. All in all, very nice. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 30, 2004 Bottle. Belgian style, obvious Belgian influences, with the yeast and orange peel characters. But i tasted a lot of American style hops in here (could be wrong, i dunno). Didn’t taste particularly Belgian to me. Interesting all same. Probably have to hang on to a bottle to let in soften. A little too much alcohol showing in the finish. gnylen (12), Topanga, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 29, 2004 Head: I think my glass was dirty -- no head to speak of. Aroma: Mexican banana candy; phenol city; vanilla bean. Color: gorgeous clear straw. Would have preferred more funk in this brew for the purported style (Biere de Garde). Looks good nonetheless. Flavor: too many phenols. Some wet cardboard. The banana esters predominate a little too much for the style. Don’t notice the lime leaf much. I’ll wait and try again. Palate is a bit thin.
