| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 6, 2005 Bottle courtesy of Pailhead. Pours dark brown/ruby to the light. Aroma has lots of spice and smokiness. Reminds me more of a dubbel than a strong. Flavor was the same spice and smoke with some dark fruits. Long spicey aftertaste. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 24, 2006 Thanks DrJay for the sample! Dark mahogony body topped with a thin mocha ring. Plums, brown sugar, yeast and hops in the aroma. This beer is sweet, sugared fruit and candy, with an approriate spicy profile to balance out the sweetness. Slight acidity, bitter/sweet finish, leaving a spiced malt aftertaste. Pretty damn good. Marsiblursi (1649), Göteborg, Sweden

Sweet, spicy flavour with a bitter hops bitterness and caramel. Some dark fruits, raisins and a touch of salt. Hints of milk chocolate and alcohol. Soft mouthfeel with a syrupy sting. Medium body. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2006 bottle. Pours a dark thick red with a quaint white head atop. The aroma is thick and syrupy of burned wood, tons of caramel, and a hint of berries. In the mouth a bit of lemony citrus is apparent with more of that thick caramel and notes of earthy spices. The huge amounts of caramel never seem to get overbearing and the finish exposes a touch of smokey, meaty flavor. wetherel (1636), Encinitas, California, USA

Malty melanoiding aroma and sweetness. A hint of oxidation and sour. Very good. kiefdog (1629), Tampa, Florida, USA
