Commercial Description:
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. This time around, we used no spices in the brewing of this beer. If you've tasted the beer before reading this, that may surprise you. The special Belgian yeast we used adds a distinctively spicy aroma and flavor. Roastiness, clove, hops, fruitiness, and those other great and funky phenols abound in the nose. What's in the flavor? You certainly get some dark roasted malts and alcohol overtones. What else? Hints of earthiness, chocolate/cocoa, hop spiciness, maybe even anise, and ... the incredible variety of complexities from the classic brewing ingredients of barley malt, hops, yeast and water, when applied with an artistic brewer's talent never ceases to amaze.

good, but really more of a barleywine then a belgain strong ale. A nice malty/yesty presence. A slight alcohol presence. Really nothing for me to make a comment on. This beer really didn’t have much to comment on.

Bottle thanks to MBA and mkobes. Dark brown with a small tan head. Sweet malty aroma with some cloves and raisins. Sweet fruity flavor of malt, tropical and dark dried fruits, caramel and bread. A bit of hops on the finish. Curious as to how this will age.

dark amber-brownish brew with little or no foam at all.My first impression is that it was kind of like smelling like a porter until I got my nose a little closer then i finally got some fruit and spme spices. But it has a funky metallic spice flavor like licking a counter in an Indian restaurant

Ruby color with brown highlights. Off white thick creamy head. Aroma of maple, vanilla, oak, rye, pumpernickel bread, molasses. Flavors of rye bread, maple wood chips, light oak chip flavor, lots of vanilla. As carbonated as a soda.

Bottle: Amber-brown, clear when held to light, with a light tan head. The aroma has sweet fruits and brown sugar, old sock, wheat, raisin, and a hint of lemon. Taste is sweet overall with nuts for a quick second, lemon grass, grassy hops, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle: Finally i got my hands on some this after anxiously waiting for the last few months. Beautiful dark mahogany color; once held against light turns to a amber hue that is clearly visible through. Head is a thin cushy foam thats a light tan but will eventually break up. Nose has an upfront clove aroma with some cinnamon as well, and I also can get a whiff of toffee and malt. The flavor has a moderate amount of malts used and has a undeniable hop spiceness. Found this VE much more darker and better in flavor than the 04. I will age and re-rate in a few months and see how much more it calms down and my ratings change.

Thanks to Travis from Dunedin Brewing. Wow. This beer pours a deep reddish-brown with an aroma of caramel, sugar, molasses, and butter cookies. The flavor is equally flavored and sugary with a hint of bitter at finish. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Au Spirit Haus, MA. Bière corpulente et bien balancée. Très épicée. Alcool, raisin, maltée : voluptueuse. Corps superbe. Très bonne bière. Mousse généreuse.
