Biscuity malts, caramel, clove and dark fruits are abundant in the nose along with...wait for it...wait for it...wait for it...cardboard. Shocking isn’t it...this was definitely oxidized a bit but in all honesty it didn’t really detract that much in overall complexity and drinkability. Medium bodied, somewhat sticky. Flavors of caramel, cloves, dark fruits and had some grassy notes. Ultimately a very good brew that I wish I could have had during its prime. skoisirius (588), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2008 22 oz bottle tasted around the 777 release date. Big caramely malty nose blended with a bit of cherry notes and a bit of semi-sweet chocolate. The flavor is a lot of the same, yet so mellow after 2 yrs and quite well blended together with the age. The chestnutty flavor comes out a bit in the body, but is mainly swept over throughout by big sweet malts. A tiny hop presence was still traceable. Definitely remember enjoying this one slowly...meaning, I loved it! Steib (581), Queen Creek, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2005 Smokey dark brown color. Fair malt and hoppy aroma, nice notes of raisins and dates. Semi-sweet flavor, almost a creamy mouhfeel. Taste like a young bourbon, needs some ageing but very drrinkable. A style I like to see, brings a plethora of different tastes and opinions. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA

Malt and yeast mix nicely for some fair complexity...I await the pouring of more of this brew. GuilTTy (538), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2008 Hazy light mahogany pour supporting a dense dark khaki head with lacing like velcro. Dark fruits, figs, walnuts, toffee and semi-sweet chocolate in the aroma. Wonderfully complex palette of flavors with more dark fruits, caramel, a hint of coffee and butterscotch all shepharded about by a strong hand of sweet malt and Stone’s healthy hops. Long, sweet finish with a peppery flair and a rich, smooth texture. This was my only bottle so I won’t have one to crack open with an 06.06.06, 07.07.07 & 08.08.08 mini vertical later this summer but this one was worth the early peek. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 26, 2008 Thanks to Santoslhalper. Pours a dark brown with a reddish hue. A light beige head that is thick and foamy. Aroma is a strong toffee, currant, molasses, and wet fallen leaves with a good helping of alcohol. The flavor is a dark fruit malt of candied cherries and maybe some pineapple. There is a roasted coffee background in there as well. The malt flavor is so full and sweet. I feel like there could be a little more body, but overall, the beer is excellent. smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2005 Bottle - it is obvious that this is not a typical offering from Stone. When I popped the top I did not get the beloved burst of hops, rather a fruity, malty aroma. Nice! Some dark fruit, a hint of smoke. Deep brown color with a bit of ruby on the edges. The beige head did not last quite like anticipated. A wild explosion of flavor on first swallow. Jumping all over the mouth. I like the palate - slightly fizzy, especially for a brew of 8.5%. A very interesting beer - from anyone - but from Stone in particular. Had I not seen the bottle I never would have believed it was a Stone beer. flutetokill (515), Fresno, California, USA
