The flavor was dark fruits, chocolate and phenols. Wonderfully complex. A really nice dubbel. Capa (964), Yokosuka, Japan

Aroma of toasted malts, anise, molasses, light spice, light smoke and alcohol. Enjoyable body, medium with nice carbonation. Flavor of toasted malts, yeast, light molasses, noticeable alcohol, and caramelized malts. Finish is rather alcoholic. Still pretty young, probably has a real nice future. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2008 From IrishBoy via trade. Thanks Richard! Poured ultra dark brown with lighter ruby highlights streaming through. A small off-white head formed and quickly collapsed back into the beer. Spots of lacing. The aroma is chocolate, raisins, light spice and very little yeast. The flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, some alcohol and plenty of raisin/plum sweetness. Nice mouthfeel. Very nice. ajm (917), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2008 Updated: Jan 26, 2009A very interesting dark beer. Beautiful color with hints of deep violet. A flavor that isn’t exactly round (not sweet enough). I didn’t think this was a very good example of a dubbel. Didn’t pop enough, wasn’t bready or floury or sweet. Tastes like a better version of Salvation. awaller05 (300), Sharon, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2008 A toast to the 2008 Super bowl Champs, New York Giants. Another toast to the New England Patriots for making my football season entertaining considering my hometown team (Chicago Bears) really scerewed the pooch. Anyways this was my Superbowl finale beer. Sweet smelling beer, very thick foamy head, first taste hads a lot of fruity sweetness. As I drink this one further, I have a hard time wanting to drink it too fast as it is so damn sweet. I nice novelty beer to add to your ratings, but please don’t go too far out of your way to obtain. jarspag (595), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2008 On tap at Stone 2/1/08. Deep mahogony with aroma of dark fruits and sweet malts. Flavor is roasted malt with a crap load of sweet fruits, sugar and beligian yeast character. Enjoyable but not really by style. MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2008 Bottle. This is the 4th bottle I’ve had so far apparently I get lazy with my notes. Pours a dark brown with a large nearly white head. Aroma is still on the sweeter side with lots of dark fruits. Flavor is malty and caramel and sweet with some yeastiness, raisin, plum, and unidentified fruitiness. Finish is dry and spicy and moderately bitter and earthy. I remember it being more alcoholic when fresh for some reason, as it sits now there is a light warmth. I got more, I’ll try it again in a year. Nuffield (2720), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 31, 2008 A bit musty, rich aroma. Brown color. Raisin note, nutty, richness, light toast with hazelnuts. Moderate palate. Not bad. I’m not sure if it will improve with aging; I’d drink now.
