Pours dark brown with hints of red and a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and dark fruits. Chocolate, caramel, dark fruits are balance with a slightly bitter and sour finish. A very nice ale similar to a belgian dubbel.

Courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours a black color with a very thin dissipating head. Has huge flavors of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, and brown sugar. Finished with a sort of sweet and sour fruit taste on the tongue.

I couldn’t stand it anymore and finally cracked this baby open as I enjoy my first night of football sprawled on my couch. Poured a deep stained mahogoney red-black with barely a whisper of carbonation or head. The aroma is strangely waxy, and a bit date-like ... I don’t know how else to describe it ... This drinks a lot mellower than I’d expected it to, and with much different of a flavor profile than I’d expecte, too. This has a rich dark fruity character, mostly raisin, hint of licorice, plum, blackberry, pinot noir. For all those rich flavors, this goes down far too easily, a nice sipper on this nice cool evening as I watch the Patriots smoke the Chargers.(#3097, 9/16/2007)

clear dark blood red, thin fine tan head that comes and grows upon demand, sweet fruity malt aroma, creamy body, hot fruity flavor, nice rich sweetness, the definitive rich ripe fruit dark Belgian

picking up a lot of spicyness in the aroma with the ripe fruits, the hot alcohol character has faded but is replaced with a big earthy presence that is drying it out too much and obscuring the ripe fruits, dark caramel is the only thing to stand up to the spicy and earthy bitterness, not sure where this beer is headed but I liked it better fresh

(bottle) Black body with minimal brown head. Faint aroma of sweet fruit, chocolate, roasted malt. Flavor is sweet with a slight tartness. Roasted malt flavor dominates with a fruity and slightly bitter aftertaste. Medium to full bodied.

22oz. bottle. Sweet and fruity aroma, with a combination of doughy, estery yeast traits, spice, faintly roasty, toffeeish malts, plum, raisin and some lightly floral notes. Deep, dark mahogany color, clear, with a lasting, fine head. Flavor is lightly bitter and spicy to start, turning more malty, with a darkly sweet undercurrent, and finishing with a blend of berryish fruit and faint alcohol, even shows some lingering cocoa very late. Very lightly vinous and acidic. Smooth and creamy on the palate with a full body, drying out to a certain degree by the end. Really quite nice. Should be interesting to see how this one ages.
