Commercial Description:
APPEARANCE: Dark brown to black with a tan head. AROMA: Fruity, phenolic yeast notes with dark malt roastiness. FLAVOR: Clove, smooth roasted malt, mild spiciness, and some hop bitterness. A dry finish with apparent alcohol. PALATE: Medium to full-bodied, good carbonation…no astringency. OVERALL: Very full and complex…not sure how it will develop.

Dark brown pour with a tan head. Malty sweetness, hops, alcohol, fizzy and a little bit of spice. I think this one needs some time, was all over the place with no clear defined flavor. Alcohol comes through a bit strong for less than 9%. Will rerate this one after 6 months. Not impressed right now

Bottled. Pours very dark brown in colour with a small head. Slightly roasted. Malty and slightly sweet. Hints of herbs, caramel and dark fruits. Somewhat hoppy finish.

Bottle. Deep copper with a frothy beige head. Sweet malty aroma with some creamy chocolate, dried fruit, clove, caramel. Good body to this one, too. Nice feel in the mouth. Sweet on the flavor but will cellar well and mellow out. Delicious. My favorite after the 02.02.02.

Pours a very beep rust color with a tan head. Nose of darks fruits such as raisins, plums, cherry’s, and black raspberries. Taste was malty and fruity. A very smooth dubbel.

Good slow sipper. The focus is on bitter flavors--dark espresso, hops, wood, and cloves. A little bit of roundness with milk chocolate and prunes. Balanced caramel sweetness. Tastes more like a stout than a Belgian ale. Not complex except at the back of the tongue. A good but not great beer.

(Bottle 65 cl) Clear, dark brown with a warm, reddish hue and a beige head. Aroma of yeast and dried fruit. Fairly full-bodied, sweet and very fruity with some accents of dried fruits shining through in particular. Lightly vinous notes and a touch of oak. 061006

Phenolic and mildly spicy with a good initial mouthfeel that falls flat at mid palate. Caramel and toffee notes balancing on a very mild backbone of dark candies fruit.
