Bottle (Chris o Gathering06): Ruby with a tan head. Aroma of liquorice (anise). Sweet sugary start with allspice and yeast. Warming, morish and tasty.

Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Lots of yeastiness in the aroma with some sugary fruitiness, raisin, and a hint of spice. Pours a deep reddish-brown with some transparency and a small off-white head. Lots of spicey yeastiness up front that’s almost Unibroue-ish. Lightly smokey with some faint chocolate notes. Very mild bitterness in the finish.

Bottle sampled with Beerded one, Pours black with a one finger thick off-white\light beige head. Aroma of fruit, belgian yeast, spices, and slight roasted malts. The flavor is sweet, fruit, spices, some breadiness, very smooth. Great beer.

Pours dark brown, with a nice, tan head. Lots of lace stuck to the glass. The nose is fruit, spices, alcohol, anise, and yeast. Flavor is sweet, with cherry, roasted malt, almonds, and yeast making appearances. The mouthfeel is soft, nicely carbonated and satisfying. The finish is a mild amount of hoppy bitterness with alcohol notes. A fine offering from a top-notch brewer!

Bottle. Pours a very dark, dark brown, with a thin tan head. Very roasted malty aroma, with some spices and some dark fruits. Very nice mouthfeel. Creamy and smooth finish. Flavor is mostly the roasted malts, with some fruity sweetness and a splash of hops. Very tasty. Very drinkable. I am glad to have a few bottles to cellar.

Deep crimsony brown, thin light tan creamy head. Complex nose of candied dark fruits, and spiced black bread, with soft notes of cedar, rye, and caramelized banana. Flavor is all about dark fruit and spice with a nice light hop bitterness throughout. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light bittersweet, dark fruity finish. It’s not always about the hops....

Bottle: Dark mahoganny amber color. Nose of light yeast and plum, coriander with sweet molasses and caramel malts. Flavor of sweet fruit, light belgian yeast, tart and some malty blandness. Eh. Finishes with some balance but it’s not bad.

RBSG DC 2006: Mostly clear dark brown colored body with a large tan colored head that sticks. The aroma is wheat, roasted wheat, mild alcohol, light phenols & esters, bubblegum, and clove. Taste is alochol, chocolate, roasted wheat, bubblegum, clove, pepper, very much like a weizen bock though it’s much more dry and lighter bodied with a huge amount of alcohol showing through on the palate.
