750mL bottle. The body is dark brown almost black with no head. The aroma is roasted malt. The taste is roast and maybe some fruit.

Stone Half Vertical Tasting, Popeye’s. Very dark brown color, cherries, oranges, dark chocolate and sharp alcoholic nose. Liquorice, milk chocolate, brandy, oranges in the mouth. Finish is a bit rough and alcohol comes through too much. Needs more time in the cellar.

Well this was mighty tasty, which is a little surprising since im not a huge Dubbel fan. Probably liked it due to the fact it was alot thicker and darker, not overly sweet or carbonated. Not to mention Stone has possibly the best looking bottles in the game, it would be nice if i didnt have to drive miles to smuggle it into IL.

22 oz. bottle. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown in color with a medium sized light tan head that diminishes rather quickly. The aroma is fruity with vanilla, yeast, and toasted caramel malts. The flavor is roasted malt, fruits, vanilla, yeast, alcohol, and spicey brown sugar. There is some drying and a bit of bitterness at the finish.

Tap @ Stone Winter Storm ’08: Poured a clear dark brown color with an off-white head. Semi-sweet fruity and roasty aroma and flavor. Dry clean finish. Not bad but nothing real special going on.

22oz bottle. Randomly scored from keg n bottle in I.V., sitting next to the 777 and hadn’t noticed it before. Deep dark brown like the depths of hell... ok thats the only satanic reference I’m going to make... maybe. Brown sugar, prunes, and molasses in the aroma. The flavor is pretty sweet, but not out of control. Almost reminds me of a doppelbock with some nuttiness to it. Just a little bitterness from the roast, and a little yeast in there too. An enjoyable dubbel, but I’m not getting the complexities that I love about westmalle or rochefort. Definite bonus points for the name; I had Iron Maiden playing in my head the entire time. I didn’t get to try it fresh, but a year and a half of age may have blended the flavors a little much.

Brown with a khaki head. Faint smell of blackened malts with a light sweetness. Full bodied and very smooth. A mildly sweet flavor with blackened malts is same as the nose. A nice dubbel here. 111406
