| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2006 Deep cola-like appearance with a quick-to-fade, fizzy head. Sharp nose with anise, clove and smoky alcohol notes. Thick mouthfeel, a little dirty, with a spiciness that both lifts the flavor and dries out the mouth. Flavors are a bit hot. Clay and caramel with a fruity, Belgian character, but an overall confusing flavor profile. My associates and I agree that this really needs to age, and I hope we are all still around six years from now to enjoy one of my other bottles at maturity. (The beer’s maturity, not mine.)

Dark body, caramel and plum aroma. Taste is caramel, alcohol, a bit mettalic. Pretty good. ucusty (1900), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2008 Updated: Jan 28, 2008Pour dark brown with fluffy white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film, surprisingly there is a small amount of lacing. Yeasty, chocolate, and funky aroma. Creamy mouth-feel with hints of coffee & dried fruit , cedar, and spice. Dry finish with flavors of hops. chocolate, and malts. Alcohol was well masked and this dubbel was not over-spiced. jeffc666 (1894), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Extremely dark brown ruby body with a nice dense lasting tna head. Looks quite appealing. The aroma is loaded with dark fruits and plenty of sweetness. THe flavor is quite sweet with some hints of spiciness, but mainly sweet chewy dark fruitiness. The palate is very dry and not as chewy as would expect given the overall sweetness. Better than some of the past efforts in this series and one that will probably age better than some of the others as well. emacgee (1891), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

Head is one finger creamy and mocha. Nose shows some oxidation, some caramel, raisiny, mildly fruity, rusty Dubbel feel. Flavor is sweet, shows some caramel, rusty dark wheat flavor. Interesting enough but not awesome, would like to have tried it fresh. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of fruit, spices, and slight roast. The flavor is smooth, sweet, and fruit. Great beer. marcus (1885), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2007 This dark brown ale poured with a modest tan head, eliciting a strong malty aroma. The flavor is fruity (mostly raisin) and complex with a warming alcohol characteristic. I’m fairly certain this brew would improve with age, but is a great drink at the present.
