Rich, dark brown with naearly no head at all. Strong, apicy aroma with brown sugar galore and plums and some cherries too. Strong alcohol presence. Molasses and brown sugar predominate in the flavor. Banana esters. A little too sticky. Very chewy mouthfeel.

Rated blind from "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. Black/brown color with small off-white head. Meaty aroma with some dark aroma, small fruit. Dark fruity, very candy sweet, too much sugar. Thin, little carb. Too sweet and unappealing.

Stone Half Vertical Tasting, Popeye’s. Very dark brown color, cherries, oranges, dark chocolate and sharp alcoholic nose. Liquorice, milk chocolate, brandy, oranges in the mouth. Finish is a bit rough and alcohol comes through too much. Needs more time in the cellar.
