Poured an effervescent maple mahogany with a small fizzy light tan head. Nice aroma of sweet caramel, grapes, roasty chocolate, and a cinnamon spiciness. Flavor is dry and spicy with notes of cinnamon and clove, a roasty/earthy character, and a dry and bitter grass hop finish with a slight acidity. Alcohol isn’t overpowering but is not hidden either. Decently pleasant and complex, but could be better with a bit more sweetness and smoothness. RERATE: Paired the beer after tasting with a salty stilton which brought out its sweetness, making it slightly more pleasant. Still could stand to be a bit smoother.

Bottle in a trade with Ross. Very dark brown, almost opaque but with a ruby glow showing through the edges. Large tan head that collapses in a few minutes leaving fair lace. Sour fruity aroma with some underlying caramel and some noticeable yeast. Smooth medium body, medium carbonation. Brown sugar sweetness, peppery spice, and a pleasing bitterness combine for a balanced and complex flavor profile. Nice dry finish.

Pours a dark brown with small brown head. Dried fruit, roasted malt and hints of spice on the nose. Flavor was roasted malt, with some fruit sweetness to it. Good carbination that brings out the spice and yeast. Medium body with a touch of molassess towards the finish.

22oz. bomber. Pours a very dark brown with very little yellowish brown head. Smells of toasty smokey malts, maybe a little coffee in there as well. Tastes of smokey malts, a touch woody, with some coffee and an alcohol finish. Thinnishon the palate, good carbonation. Very smooth for being such a dark beer. One of the darkest Belgians that I’ve had but very, very drinkable. At 8.66% it packs a good punch as well.

22 oz. bottle. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown in color with a medium sized light tan head that diminishes rather quickly. The aroma is fruity with vanilla, yeast, and toasted caramel malts. The flavor is roasted malt, fruits, vanilla, yeast, alcohol, and spicey brown sugar. There is some drying and a bit of bitterness at the finish.

light sour fruity aroma with some roastedness greets the nose. The pour is a dark brown with a decent tan head of some duration and lacing. The flavor has initially a sourness with some spice that grows to a more roasted flavor and finish.

22oz bottle. Rating #460. Very deep dark red bordering on black. Light tan head with decent retention. Sweet candy like aroma, slightly roasty and some dark fruitiness as well. Flavor was very sweet, candy sugar sweetness, but I did like it though, it was almost like rock candy, this was very tasty after 3 years. (1087)

Pours out a dark brown color with a nice tan head. Aroma is very malty and yeasty. Flavoe is very much the same. i was a little suprised at the amount of maltyness that was present in this brew. This is a nice brew.
