Pigfoot said this about the 05 05 05 version. It still applies:
"Dark ruby color, bright at sides, with a long-lasting, creamy tan head. Nice. in the nose: ah...warm, soft, fruity, rich, malty, toffeeish, enticing...delicious...alive and invigorating...much appreciated. ...and smooth and tasty on the tongue, as well. Big, fat malty taste, nary a squeak out of hops...molasses, hint of anise, caramel...richness at play on the palate. Damnably tasty! And the high abv keeps quiet, at least, so far... I’d love it if this were a regular brew, that I could down anytime I felt. It straddles a special place between abbey dubbel and baltic porter, with a kiss of coffee/chocolate/oatmeal/nut brown stout...if you know what I mean...yummy!" chicagodri (1057), Chicago, Illinois, USA

I can smell cloves, but I had a hard time picking out individual smells and tastes (maybe due to the fact it is 1.5 years old). Definitely fruity, and it was a very sweet beer. I think I like it more now then when I first had it a while ago. hophead75 (1959), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is good and with roasted and chocolate malt, dark fruit, and earthy. Taste is malty, sweet, dark fruit-plums, raisins, with chocolate hints and a roasty, actually smoky and spicy smooth bitterness in the finish. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA

Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, and spices. Flavor was mostly the same with the more subtle flavors first that give way to the alcohol and slight bitterness. The bitterness lingers a little. Absolutely wonderful brew. I think I’m going to age a bottle of this. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Aroma is dried fruit, toffee, alcohol and spice. Body is creamy smooth with prickly carbonation. Flavor is fruit filled, with dried cherries, maybe some banana, roasty malt, and a big punchy taste of cloves. Finish is lighty bitter with cloves and a little pine. This beer grabs my taste buds from start to finish. VikingHammer (363), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA

Aroma of roasted malts and dark fruits. Chocolate, caramel, dark fruits are balance with a slightly bitter and sour finish. A very nice ale similar to a belgian dubbel. Probably liked it due to the fact it was alot thicker and darker, not overly sweet or carbonated. Not to mention Stone has possibly the best looking bottles in the game, it would be nice if i didnt have to drive miles to smuggle it into IL. fraternie (710), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 20, 2006 Dark brown body with a substantial head. Innovative brew with aromas of chocolate, plum, raisin and fruit spice. Initially malty mouthfeel with notes of chocolate and caramel that lead into strong clove, banana and raisin notes. Yeasty, alcoholic finish with elements of smoke and clove spice, light undertones of chocolate. Overall, it tastes kind of like a mix between Chimay, a Weizenbock and a Scottish Ale. Yummy, but will improve with time after alcohol softens.
