| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 12, 2006 Pours out very dark and the familiar aroma of Stone’s Belgian yeast strain is immediately evident. The usual clove and banana are present as is a good amount of smokey roastiness and some muted dark fruit richness. That, however, is contrasted by a surprisingly light body which works both for and against this beer. The high alcohol content is evident though well balanced. Another enjoyable beer in the Epic series--will taste again in six months. Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

Was pleasantly surprised with this beer. Dark brown pour with some roasty and spicy notes in the aroma. Fruity, spicy, malty flavor as well. Could definitely tell this had some age, but I think the age contributed a certain smooth mellowness to it that really made this one enjoyable to drink. Ughsmash (4091), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Bomber. Poured rich cola brown with a good lookin’ cap of tan head. The aroma picked up toasted molasses, toffee, and darker fruit topped by a dry, peppery yeast driven by alcohol warmth.. quite inviting. The flavor was centered around the molasses and dark fruit from the nose.. cocoa and a touch of charred smoke eminated outward.. dusty banana-like influence from the yeast on the edges.. finished warm, again with the molasses and fruit playing against the yeast. Medium-plus bodied and well-balanced on the palate.. spicy and engaging with very complementary yeast. Good stuff! ehhdayton (1115), USA

The pour is a dark brown with a decent tan head of some duration and lacing. The flavor has initially a sourness with some spice that grows to a more roasted flavor and finish. brigg (216), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
