Jun 19, 2009 Entered to celebrate my 2200th US rating. Draft at Stone Bistro. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, red wine, wood, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and wine, leading to a lightly tart finish.

Jun 12, 2009 tap at the Hop Juice Release party in warrenville.... lively med amber brown pour with a thin white head....spicy aroma with medium sweetness with some subtler red fruit qualities... flavors were sweet, pretty damned spiced up still, with red fruit subtleties that come through the wine barrel. medium carbonation. not that much of an improvement to an already mediocre beer.

Jun 7, 2009 9 oz draft courtesy of the TB Hop Juice release (Warrenville, IL). Pours a hazy amber pour, dark and almost opaque, with a decent offwhite head. Aromas are throwing some nice red wine notes off the bat, oak, dryness, some light yeasty notes. Pleasant, barrel dominant. Initial is smooth, moderate body, throws off a smooth maltiness, a bit of a belgian yeast, touch of funk, with good red wine feel. Oak, cabernet, nice dryness, potent warming. Good tannins throw some bitterness, not real hopped. Red wine barel steals the show, but belgian and faint funk come into play from the base. Very nice. Finish leaves a pleasant tartness on the palate and finish. Cheers!

Jun 1, 2009 Big thanks to Dennis (stone rep) at Hight St brew fest. Pour was golden amber with a white head. Aroma of wine, cinnamon, and fruit. Flavor was so complex and smooth. Lots of oak, caramel, and wine flavor. Spice finish.

May 31, 2009 Growler pour thanks to Dennis. Pour is amber with a small off white head. Aromas of spice, grapes, and sweet fruit. Flavor is candy, spice, oak, and finishing with huge wine flavors. There was almost a tanic, acidic characteristic in here. Awesome overall.

May 7, 2009 On tap at Stone. Pours a hazy brown-amber with no head. Sharp and sweet aroma, with a lot of fruit, grapes, and malt. Taste is sharp and fruity, lots of wine, with wood, citrus, pine, and sugar. Lingering sharp fruitiness. Tasty.

May 4, 2009 Had this at EBF 08 and well while any chance of notes are more or less gone all i can tell you was this was a pretty darn good offering with nice vinous hints and oak accents highlighting the fruity spicy base brew. 3.8
