Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Bottle from City Beer in San Francisco. I’ll be honest, this wasn’t all that good. Kind of a belgian blonde that just wasn’t tight enough. Ah well, can’t win ’em all. And, I had to leave the very cool bottle in San Fran because it wouldn’t fit in our bags.

Pours straw gold with a thick, diminishing rootbeer like head. Ginger, citrus yeasty bubblegum like aroma. Taste is not so good - bitter a bit, flowery a bit with ginger a bit. Palate is unremarkable, Not a good effort from one of my favorite brewers....

Nice bright gold pour with smaller white head. Bready and yeasty sweet nose. Flavor is much the same, really sweet almost like candy. The alcohol is high, but not really noticed, can really sneak up on you.

A odd, but great mix of cider/spice/yeast funk. Its certainly got a Belgian taste to it, but its really far out there. Color and palate are perfect 5s but overall this beer is slightly more gimmick than perfection. Its worthy of a try, but no need to buy a case.

V - hazy orange, paler yellow around the edges with a smallish quickly disappearing white head
A - peppery spice, ginger
T - ginger spice with a light twinge of hops with some side fruit elements of melon and a touch of orange
P - refreshing finish and body, might be better with a little more aging.

22oz bottle. Yeasty, spicy aroma. Cloudy orange with a small white head. The Belgium yeast dominates the flavor, spices and bananas with sour wheat. Sharp dry mouth feel. This is a very complex beer, it’s gotten better with age, couple more years and I think this will balance out completely.

~Pours a light clear golden orange color with quickly diminishing thin white head. ~Spicy and sweet scent of citrus, coriander, cinnamon, clove and apricot. ~Powerful blended taste of sweet and spicy notes of fruits, clove, and light citrus. A bit sweet for my taste, but good nonetheless. ~Alcohol tingles on tongue. Thin to medium bodied. Spicy and dry finish. ~Not a bad brew. For some reason I just can’t get into this style. The sweetness upsets my tum.

Drank on 8-8-08. NIce gold color when poured, with a nice sweet aroma. Has a little kick at the end, butabout perfect for the flavor.
