Big on the ginger, lemon peel, and strangeness on the tongue. Certainly unique as was their intention crossing a saison with a triple. Flavorful and fun. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 19, 2008 Bottle. Deep amber gold in color with a nice fluffy white head. Fruity spicy citrusy aroma. Spicy apple, orange notes. Malty belgian candi sugar flavor. Sweet. Finish is spicy. Tart tasting. Full bodied. Very drinkable. chokmah33 (118), San Luis Obispo, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2008 Sourdough malts.
Sweet fruits dominate (cherry, peaches, over-ripe cantelope).
Creamy metallic character. Spicy notes of cinnamin, coriander + cardamom.
Dank belgian yeast flavor up front.
Big ginger and lemon tones. Very sour, almost peppermint taste.
Too skunky for my tongue, like an overdone trippel. Finish is slightly salty and tastes of apples.
Citric palate tingles the tongue. Wierd astringent mouthfeel. Finish is creamy. mattmc1973 (311), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jun 13, 2008 Pours a amber/gold, clear, with a small frothy head that dissipates fully. Aroma of tart apples, pear, spices, sugar, and malt. Tastes like a tripel, with sweet and tart taste to it. Smooth and crisp mouthfeel. Very good, I liked this one a lot. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 13, 2008 Pours deep golden with a fluffy head, turns into a film of tiny bubbles after a while. Aroma is a mix between a saison and a trippel: hay, grass, citrus (especially grapefruit), candy sugar. Taste is light at first, crisp grassy hops with a sweet belgian candy sugar and grapefruit in the finish. Mouthfeel is average, bubbly. Kind of a cool beer. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 9, 2008 Sweet aroma stings the nostrils. Pretty sexy beer but there’s a weird taste in the finish. My Honkeybra says it’s grapefruit, I say it’s dishsoap. Dorwart (1825), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2008 Nice 1 inch high head of fine bubbles. Spicy aroma with lots of corriander, peaches, yeast and a bit of sweet caramelly malts. Color is a slightly hazy orange. Sweet flavor with loads of corriander and spices again. Apricots, oranges, caramel and a bit of pepper in the flavor. Damn good balance and flavor. Only a hint of alcohol presence. This brew is a pleasure to drink. Finishes spicy and fruity. A damn fine brew from Stone and possibly their best Vertical to date. ansermadide (521), Kyle, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2008 Updated: Jun 9, 2008(June 2008 Beer Club Meeting - Write-In) Cloudy orange color. Great white head. Nose is heavenly... devine. Floral, spicy. Citrusy, much like a lemon drop. Flavor is lemony. Light malt, thin, but then the intense spice and 8.4% ABV kick your tongue back into shape. Impressive beer. Can’t wait for 2012... and to find someone with this release in their cellar.
