Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Pours golden with a thick head with some staying power. The aroma is very subtle and I can’t really pull out any distinct flavors. Flavor is lots of carmel with a backdrop of spices, nutmeg, citrus... lots of yeast. This is a good brew.

smells pure bubblegum, tastes hops and yeasts, a sugary sweetness, nearly coying. i think the 06 comes on top for me here. this is a bit too sweet.

Poured a golden color without much of a head. Smelled of spices and fruit. Went down very smooth and was very complex in flavor. Malty with just the right amount of hops to give it a little kick. Can’t wait for 08.08.08!!

(Bottle) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma of orange/grapefruit peel, coriander, peach, apricot, ginger, and clove. Flavor of orange peel, yeast, coriander, light ginger, cardamom, grass, and other herbs. Age has probably done this one some good.

Bottle. Fizzy small off-white head that mostly diminished with spotty amounts of lacing, carbonation noted, slightly cloudy, and a golden pale yellow hue. Nose was malty, hoppy, some caramel, spicy, lemon, grapefruite and orange. Ditto for the flavor along with some vinuousness but not overdone. Fairly smooth mouthfeel and medium in body. A quaffable and balanced beer and worthy of a try.

Bottle from Aggie Liq in Davis. I liked this brew immediately, as it reminded me of a Grand Cru of the Belgian style. There were a bit different spices involved and I’ll agree with the previous "buttery" comment. This is a rich beer of very high quality. Get it while it lasts!

Hazy, light orange color. Yeasty, sweet aroma. Very Belgian-like taste, with some malt and faint hop flavor. Kind of a paradox, very sweet but also very dry at the same time.

Great aroma, slightly vegetal and spicy. The flavor is ok, a bit buttery and sweet, rather pastry-like.
