Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Great aroma, slightly vegetal and spicy. The flavor is ok, a bit buttery and sweet, rather pastry-like.

Do I have the patience to wait five years for the second bottle? Probably not. Both bottles from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Pours a light amber with small head and minimal lacing. Yeasty aroma, but sadly it takes on the character of that fruit cocktail crap from elementary school. Taste is very strong pineapple with some background spice. I’m not loving this. Guess that will make it easier to wait 5 years!

drank with oteyj. very complex and unique overall including aroma- ginger, citrus (orange/grapefruit), along with the standard belgian strong traits. very nice mouthfeel, almost feels as if smoothness improves as the sip lingers. extremely tasty, this beer is a keeper for sure.

Drank with craftycarl21. Pours opaque yeast amber with modest off white head. Aroma of ginger, orange, apricot, raisin, and caramel with a hint of hop presence. Rediculously smooth mouthfeel with oily finish. At first sip, the palate is struck with typical belgian strong caramel malt which slowly fades into an assault of ginger, allspice, and yeast. Very well balanced flavors and exceptional smoothness and malty presence. I think this brew is quite under rated.

Bottled. Thx marsiblursi. Deep golden with a white head. Spicy aroma with citrus and yeast. Dry and grassy flavour with alco-feel and some sourish citrus and ginger.

Bottle. Cracked open a bottle with Nachlamsie that I’ve been aging for about seven months now. I had this before I started rating. I thought it was way too spicy. It seems to be agreed upon both of us that this beer aged is much better. The spices aren’t completely overbearing as it was fresh. To the nose, it has a warm spicy aroma with a good deal of sweetness. To the tongue, it’s still pretty viscous. The flavour is way more laid back. Spices are a nice mix with some caramelized apple. The finish has a light, spicy bitterness. I’m not much into spiced beers, but this isn’t so bad.

this golden belgian is a very rich ale, sweet and strong, at least at first, but with complementing additions not leaving it absurd; i think ginger and citrus dominates this brew, but there are some other things going on to keep it on its leash; also creamy, and also good.

22oz. bottle. Poured golden-orange with lots of carbonation and ample head. Smells of fruit, spice and alcohol. Tastes like a good Belgian ale should: fruity, tart, complex, yeast, a little hops and some spice (cloves?). This beer is full-flavored and medium-bodied, it is not light but not overly heavy. Not bad.
