Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

22oz bottle. Deep, thick, amber-orange color. This one is heavily spiced, with lots of citrus and ginger flavors coming through. Also maintains a good farmhouse funk and rich Belgian yeast taste. A real quality beer. Strong pungent aftertaste. Reminiscent of great beers such as Stille Nacht in it’s quality sour and tangy notes. Great beer, one to stash in the cellar for sure.

Lacking the flavor of the other stone products. I just want it to be gone. low flavor, but still a good strong ale. aroma almost gone after opening; not a bad beer overall though...

Pours clear gold. Nic creme head. Nice yeasty sugar laden nose. Decent flavor. More dough than I thought there would be. Yeast is noticeable. Decent feel. Smooth. The profile is unusual though, which knocks the drinking factor down a bit. Seems a bit out of balance, but still a pleasure to drink.

Part of a vertical in Tokyo; thanks marc! Nice white head on this clear, glowing orange brew. Aroma of tropical fruits, orange, grapefruit, real light toasted malts, and light spice. Full bodied, nicely carbonated. Intense tropical fruits, lemon zest, grapefruit, and citrus, rounded out by nice spice and ginger. The lemon peel is pretty strong and bright. Nice fruit throughout. Not the best in the vertical, but definitely the most fun.

22 oz bottle poured a deep golden color bordering on orange. Very clear with a frothy white head. Aroma consisted of bubble gum, sweet fruit, a musty yeast smell, and bit of clove. Sweet and sticky mouthfeel with the same tastes as aroma. I did taste a bit of apricot and some pepper at the swallow. Carbonation was nice. It complimented the mouthfeel. I was a bit let down. Not bad, but just a bit overrated in my opinion.

Dark gold color, forms a fizzy white head. Ginger, pepper, yeast, and sweetness in the aroma. Flavor has more ginger, definitely sweet, and has a slightly bitter finish. Fairly smooth with a slight sticky finish. Better than expected.

An amazing pour into my Duvel tulip results in liquid halfway up the Duvel emblem and gorgeous fluffy white head to the brink of overflowing. The beer is a dark orange color. The head reduces to a nebulous cap, leaving some nice lacing. Smell is dominated by clovey phenols, reminiscent of organic chemistry where we had to isolate eugenol from cloves. Very spicy and sweet aroma. Banana and clove phenols are prominent in the taste as though this beer was made with wheat. Peach, doughy yeasty bread, a ton of spices that I can’t identify. Great carbonation, very smooth. The finish is a bit tannic, making it pretty refreshing. I think this beer is underrated.
