Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Intriguining strong potpourri of spices. Among them: coriander, clove, ginger, and thyme. Amber color with a medium head, nice lacing. Medium to full body of orange flavor. Perceptible alcohol content is minimized. Traces of thyme and coriander can be detected on the palate. Very unique and enjoyable.

The first Vertical Epic I’ve had, I was most impressed with this brew. Complexity is the watchword with cinnamon, botanical notes and all manner of spiciness dancing about. An odd aromatic quality makes it seem like it was blended with a dry white wine -- obviously impossible but that’s certainly the impression it gave.

Pours amber with a slightly off-white head. The aorma has a spicey and fruity charateristic. Flavor has notes of ginger, orange peel, and a light touch of hops. There is a bit of malt and is full bodied.

Bottle. Lots of different people sent me this beer as an extra, so I now have way too much. Drank from a Chimay goblet. Not much head. Yeasty, bready aroma. Light spice. Not bad. Nice chewy malts and belgian yeast in the flavor, very dry, a touch of old hops, nutmeg, anise. Good mouthfeel, thick, spot-on carbonation. Really not a bad beer. Not exciting, but certainly no flaws. I’m surprised the rating is only 86.

Cloudy golen pour with very little head. Belgian yeast smell with some pepper. Very peppery/spicey flavor lasts throughout the taste. Some Belgian malt/yeast flavor. Low carbonation. Hopefully the pepper flavor tames over the years because it’s a liitle overpowering right now not letting much else to taste.

Pours light amber, forming large off white foamy head. Aroma of cloves, wood, oranges, perhaps peppers and other spices. Flavor is of a smooth Belgium beer. Not as sweet as I was anticipating, Cloves come thru, this beer is nice. Not my personal fave style, but once again Stone has proved itself worthy.

22oz bottle-pours a disappearing white head and amber color. Aroma is spicy, wood, some medium malt-caramel, yeast. Taste is plenty of spicy-clove, wood, some medium malt-caramel/rock candy, citrus, yeast, alcohol. Interesting. Occasional, sipping. OK effervescence. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for picking this out.
