Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Hazy golden yellow apple juice colored liquid with a nice head. Nose is strong of esters and yeast. Taste is citric and nice crisp happy flavors. Mouthfeel is fluid and a little crisp. Finish is very similar to a very nice apple cider type drink, only much better. great brew.

0.65 l bottle. Amber color with small head. Sweetish aroma with notes of cardamon, clove, pepper, ginger and orange. Sweet honeyish and gingery flavor with clove, pepper and orange. Dryer finish with woody spices. The spiciness is a bit too overpowering.

Second bottle of this, consumed several months after release. Pours cloudy and with a big spiced nose, almost like one of these imperial wits everyone’s trying to do these days. It’s a handsome beer, with a nice gold-to-orange complexion and a swirling yeast cloudiness. I’m not as sold on the taste. Not only has the brew not calmed down quite enough (some serious heat still in there), its flavors - anise, lots of citrus, and definitely the advertised ginger - seem to have become a bit more muddled. A provocative experiment, and still a pleasant drink, but not an unqualified success.

Real nice Belgian Ale. Aroma of orange and cardamom. Fruity and spicy complexity. So many flavors that it is tough to distinguish them all. Really full bodied and laced with a nice amount of alcohol. I like.

This was a little on the dry side for being a triple. I think its because of the part saison. Some mild fruits and citrus all around. Interesting to see what itll be like in 5 years :)

Cloves, cardamom, ginger and floral aroma; sweet and spicy, simple malt profile; somewhat yeasty and perfumey; tart, acidic finish. Don’t care for it much.

22 ounce bottle from cdog69
Pours a golden apricot with some with a thick but diminishing snow white head.
The ginger is really strong here. As far as I’m concerned there’s nothing else.
The flavor is awfly heavy on the giner as well. There’s a bit of citrus, and some sugary sweetness. It really seems to just help the ginger along. A sturdy bitterness and a long finish.
We are a little bit fuller bodied here. I enjoy that. Pleasant carbonation.
I feel like there’s way to much ginger here. This is not something I could dring again.
