Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

This vertical will leave you horizontal if you drink too much! I like the ingenuity that went into this one---lots of flavors that melded interestingly and didn’t become a mess of a beer. This beer holds interest from start to warming finish. It is spicy and just a little "hot". The sweetness isn’t overwhelming, as it is balanced with floral notes and something a little more substantive like raisings or something.

Flowery spicy aroma with licorice, peaches and a bit of yeast in the nose. Nice orange color, rather clear, lingering head. Silky palate and fruitiness galore in the taste. Interesting.

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, Harry’s bottle, and a great way to end a session. Nice dark yellow, decent sized bubbly snow white head. Nice aroma - floral, spicy, cotton candy. Great taste - strong sweet light malt, tons of citrus, lemonade, sugar, floral, spice. Like a strong Americanized Phatome, which is a compliment. I really really liked it - lots to think about and enjoy with this one.

Pleasant flavor and aroma of spice, with appropriate sweetness. certainly didn’t knock my socks of - don’t know if it would be worth waiting five years to drink this one..

Courtesy of Drink4Satan, thanks Mike! Poured into a bell glass, with light amber colour an medium offwhite head. Aroma brings a minty character with touches of ginger, citrus and other spices. Initial taste of spiced malts and ginger. Finishing with a light caramel touch. Light to medium bodied, palate duration does run shorter than expected. Alcohol is well masked and slight head retention.

I’m impatient so I’m not going to age this one. Snifter. Pours a clear orange colour with a whispy white head that fades completely. Aroma is strongly cardamom and ginger with notes of acidity coming from the fruit peels (thanks commercial description!). The flavour is the same with a yeast and malt presence that was almost undetectable on the nose. Nice toffee undertones. The cardomom and ginger is overwhelming in this, which is not bad at all. It has a spritzy mouthfeel and is light bodied with good masking of the booze.

This beer pours a clear orange color with a nice head that fades right away. it has a nice ginger, cardmon, and citrus aroma to it. As you drink it there are some nice flavors of fall spices as wells as mild hints of toffee. The palate is bitter sweet with a nice ginger finish that stick around for a while.
