Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear pale amber colour with a minimal head. Sweet and quite immature aroma of caramel, ginger, cloves and alcohol. Full but a bit too alcoholic flavour of almonds, ginger, pepper and mild toffee. Alcoholic finish of ginger, pear and toffee.

22oz. Makes me think more of a Belgian triple than saison, really too much alcohol present to make me think of the latter. Sweet syrupy belgian spicy goodness with a welcome yeast presence. Sweet fruit all over the place with loads of lavender and a lotion mouthfeel that I’m not sure if I dig. I really wish it leaned further to the saison side instead of triple.

Bottle (22oz). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, my bottle. Hazy orange pour. Aroma is strong, boozy saison - sweet tangerine malt aroma, sweet yeast and spice. Juicy, yeasty taste - totally strong saison, bitter spicy finish. Average, lively body, light spice astringency, bitter finish. Quite tasty.

Lots of spices and hops in the belgian style. Very citrusy nose and great head. Lots of POP when it hits the mouth. From a bomber, in a pint glass.

Bottle. Deep golden honey body with a thin ring of bubbles. Nose-you can smell the citrus peel, that’s for sure! Also, cardamom, lavender, heather. Very Saison nose. Very soapy, greasy mouthfeel. Taste-cardamom, big coriander, heather/lavender, tea leaves, meat tenderizer, medium bitter very flowery, herbaceous, alcohol almost undetectable, sharp, over spiced, zesty, lightly banana, very heavily spiced, too spicy now but maybe t will mellow with some age, lotion. Not a BSA, this is a saison, so I rated it as a saison.

22 oz. .. copper pour with lots of particles. lt white/tan head. .. Fruity aromas - belgiany w/ plum, peach, apricot. Some hops in there but not much.. .. Carmelly malty flavors with sour and spicy (cardamom?) notes. .. Medium body, med carbonation. .. Very interesting and tasty beer. I’d definitely rate this as one of the better Belgian style beers I’ve tried.

Oily, tangy, and funky like Belgian Ales, I guess, are supposed to be? Granted, I am drinking this five years before it’s supposed to be enjoyed; but I think this tastes like steeped gym socks.
