Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Great beer ! Pours out blonde farmhouse ale style. Citrius, fruity with a little heat. Sweet malt, nice finish.

22 oz bottle mail order from South Bay (Imperial Beach, CA). Pour is clear golden with a slight amber twinge with a one inch off white head. Aroma is spicy bread (Belgian) yeast and some fruitiness bananas, peaches maybe? Taste is peppery spice at the start, than bready, then midway through becomes very sweet. There is some hops in the finish, and a bit of a sticky sweet aftertaste. This one was a bit cloying for me, but was fun to drink nonetheless.

Pours medium yellow and clear. Aroma is of spice, bread, and vinilla. Flavor is cloeing sweet and over the top spicy. Cinnimon and cloves, corriander and others? and alcohol. Once again an american brewery thinks a belgian style of beer should be sweet and spicy. Better luck next year.

Dark amber with some sedamint. Did not know I was not suppose to drink to 2012 but I liked it in 2007. Kind of an apple cider / beer/ hard alchol mix. Not over the top as you might expect from stone. Can I find another bottle to save unitl 2012?

Consumed unaged and without the other vertical epics. I liked this a lot. Complex flavor of fruits and spices. Ginger and orange were the most noticeable flavors. Easily drinkable and highly enjoyable. Lightly sweet finish.

I thought this was pretty yummy. Very spicy, bit of a sweet fruit taste and a nice thick body.

Of the epics not good. Poured a goldenish color small head. Aroma was of ginger and cinnamon. Flavor was much the same, cinnamon was just way to overwelming to me. Just a plain mess.

Courtesy of Justin. Lots of ginger and spices. Grapefruit and cardammon, fresh grassy hops. Heather and witchhazel. Golden amber clear with light haze, topped with thin off-white lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with ginger and spice, apricot peel, grapefruit. Lemon zest and tart hoppyness. Finishes with lemon-ginger zest and tangy sweetness. Really nice beer.
