Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Bottle, bought @ Systembolaget, Malmö.
[thank you, Myrup]
Pours lightly hazy golden with an impressive, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is soft, nots of liqourice and peppermint, oranges, light alcohol and sweet biscuity malts. A touch of pineapple in the end. Super nice, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is lightly spicy, some coriander, ginger and vanilla. Sweet and lightly grainy, doughy malts. Some apples. Wow, this is really nice and soooooo greatly balanced.

Pours a cloudy orange with a small ring of foam. Witbier, wheaty aroma with a touch of peppermint. Tastes oddly of witbier, some bubblegumj notes - tripel-esque, even? Ok carb and unremarkable body. I like the spiciness - nice!

On tap at Winter Storm ’09. Pous a light copper color with a trim off-white head. Loaded with floral citrus that carries into the flavor with notes of dill, hops, and red grapes. An odd combination, but it works.

Bottle: Poured a orange amber with an off white color head. Aroma is fruit mainly citrus, spice, and hops. The taste is a mix of winey aged fruit and yeast. I don’t think this will hold up to much longer. Then again it could have just been my bottle.

On tap at Stone Winterstorm. Light golden amber in the class with light lace. Sweet and spicy nose. Cinnamon? Taste is lightly Belgian fruity/yeasty, but not overpoweringly so. Clean and crisp, but a mouthfull. Ends with a sharpness.

Hazy copper color; compact head, big. Herbal aroma (rosemary, heather…). Good body, sweetish malt, a bit herbal too. Peculiar, but not special.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Light hazel colour with a short lasting head. The aroma is a lot like a triple and the taste is like a saison but a lot more heavy. Experimental and well brewed as always from Stone.
