Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

22 oz bottle. Hazy pink brown with a lacy white head. Nose is banana, lemon, honey, ginger and yeast. Very nice. Medium body with a light tingle. Taste is citrus peel, toffee, ginger and mild clove. Bitter yeasty finish.

The first pour was a clear gold with a small, pure white head. My first reaction was very smooth followed by a pleasant malt-fruit-spice experience that was slightly sweet. The head faded quickly. It is 11/08 now and the hops seemed to have faded, but hey this brew was meant for aging. A Belgian that is true to style. By the last pour the brew was cloudy and there was sediment in the bottom of the glass.

Bottle. Pours clear orange with some sediment at the end of the bottle and an off white head. The aroma has doughy/bready malt, peach like fruit, and yeast. The flavor has bready malt and spices, with some fruity sweetness, relatively low bitterness and a dry yeasty finish. Very nice.

courtesy of Travis (Dunedin Brewery). Pours orange, white head. Aroma is sugary Taste reminds me a lot of a good Belgian triple with light saison undertones. Plenty of nice yeasty flavors and spices.

650 mL bottle. Translucent orange with a thin head and lots of sediment. Strong, distinctively Belgian aroma with sharp citrus, spice (ginger), and yeast. Taste is aggressive, with more citrus, green apple, alcohol, spice and sweet malt. Some alcohol at the end, with a bitter finish. Dry and quite full.

Getting notebook online. Bottle. Pours orange hued golden. Load of flavors, pine, coriander, lemon peel, other spices, slight yeast. Very complex and delicious! Re-sampled 9/19/09. Lots of Belgium yest and candy sugar, coriander, black pepper. Still drinking nicely. Wonder if that sweetness will just get more intense?

Pours a golden color with a nice head. Aroma is stong with citrus and spices. A dry and sour/citrus tasting. Can taste the spices in there as well. A good belgium style beer.
