Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

Aroma was very winy and cake-like. Very sweet. Looked very clear with decent beading and a thin foam head. Flavourwise it was very viny and alcoholic. A bit on the thin side with regard to mouthfeel. Decent but not my mug of ale.

Cloudy orange/brown colour, with white head that disappears quick. Sweet and spicy fruit aroma. Fruit in particular orange with a nice spice/herb kick. A really good beer, that is going to be even better in two years!

Old notes: Pours a brilliant orange amber color, very pleasing to the eye. Head is generous at first but dissipates to a thin rim of white lace. Nose is candy like, fruit candies, like apricot and orange maybe, and some peppermint sugary aromas too. Palate is somewhat viscous with syruppy sweetness, in a good way, with a big spiced warmth at the end. Somewhat prickly on the palate too as alcohol is evident. Finish is long with lingering fruit and malt sweetness.

From bottle shared with awiseman and bro Eric. Pours golden orange with a thin white head. Taste is more cloves than I thought you could get in a beer along with a good amount of cinnamon. Taste more like a cider beer. Very smooth. Even my non beer drinking girlfriend liked this one.

Bomber. Hazy orange color, with medium frothy head. Aroma of various spices including ginger and cinnamon, also noticeable fruit and Belgian yeast. Flavor is very comparable to aroma, through spices are more prevalent, maybe a little too much ginger. Not my favorite in the Epic series, though still enjoyable.

Draft at Small Bar for their Stone night as part of San Diego Beer Week. The bar was kind of dark, but it appeared as a nice golden amber color with white head. Aroma is full of spice, citrus, yeast, and light pine. The spice is perhaps the most notable component of the flavor with nutmeg and cinnamon standing out. The ctirus peels are also quite noticeable along with yeast and some lightly toasty maltiness. The alcohol is completely hidden and it’s easily drinkable. Wish I had some at home.

Thanks Hayduke! This beer looks like honey in the glass. Gold with lots of active carbonation and a light gold head that lasts forever. Layered lacing. Nose is fruit and yeast with peppery spice. Flavor is similar similar. Pepper leads with tangerine and sugar. Yeast is in the background. As the beer warms less pepper and more fruit is noted. A smooth feel and less effervescence than expected. A very nice beer!

Flaske: Orange klar øl med et minimalt skumhoved. Kraftig duft af julekrydderi. Smagen er også domineret af dette julekrydderi og alkohol. Det der trækker den op er en god mundfylde og en god bitterhed med bid i.

Bottle. Orange color with small head. Unfortunately, it was not very good. Too spicy for my taste. Ginger is a bit tricky, too much of it is not tasty.
