Ungstrup (11353), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 27, 2008 Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet amlty with notes of peaches, citrus, and spicy notes of especially cardemomme. The flavor is sweet matly with spicy notes of cardemomme, lemon peal, and cinnamon. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 7, 2007 Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear amber, average head. Aroma of coriander and winegum. Sweet and estery, very fruity. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel and evident crystal malt character. A fairly streamlined, highly spiced beer, typical American-Belgfian style. Lots of flavours, but not so much depth. Finishes slightly stick. A drinkable beer for it’s size, but it leaves me rather unimpressed. Perhaps I’m not worthy? Papsoe (10280), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 1, 2007 (Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Hazy, pale golden with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of fruit and caramel - and quite some yeast also. Quite full-bodied, sweetish fruity and very spicy - I detect some ginger. Dry and fairly hoppy finish with also the alcohol showing some muscles. Quite interesting and well crafted. 280907 Oakes (6973), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 16, 2007 Hazy vibrant amber. Very spicy nose - ginger, ginseng, star anise. On the palate it’s all about caramelly malt and light spice. The finish is slightly chewy and a little bit toasty. Not sure about aging it, but it’s a pleasing Belgian-style brew. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Oct 4, 2007 1 pt. 6 fl oz, thanks to Papsoe. Pours golden yellow, clear, with a white lacing head. Dried fruity and slight herbal/spiced. Flavour is heavy spiced, ginger. Some minor citrus fruity notes are present, but it all drowns in ginger. Finish is slight cloying. Not good. Well crafted, I just don’t like ginger.
