Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Hazy, pale golden with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of fruit and caramel - and quite some yeast also. Quite full-bodied, sweetish fruity and very spicy - I detect some ginger. Dry and fairly hoppy finish with also the alcohol showing some muscles. Quite interesting and well crafted. 280907

1 pt. 6 fl oz, thanks to Papsoe. Pours golden yellow, clear, with a white lacing head. Dried fruity and slight herbal/spiced. Flavour is heavy spiced, ginger. Some minor citrus fruity notes are present, but it all drowns in ginger. Finish is slight cloying. Not good. Well crafted, I just don’t like ginger.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear amber, average head. Aroma of coriander and winegum. Sweet and estery, very fruity. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel and evident crystal malt character. A fairly streamlined, highly spiced beer, typical American-Belgfian style. Lots of flavours, but not so much depth. Finishes slightly stick. A drinkable beer for it’s size, but it leaves me rather unimpressed. Perhaps I’m not worthy?

[ Trade by yespr ]. Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, spicy, coriander, ginger, cinnamon, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and spicy ginger / peppery bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20090611]

clear dark gold, wispy off white head rouses up big and creamy to leave drippy lace, big spicy aroma with lots of sharp ginger, big body, big sweet malt flavor, big bready yeast character, lots of spicy balance, needs a bit of age for the sweetness to mellow and blend with the spices,

sweet bright ginger and cinamon aroma, lots of sharp spicy ginger flavor, lots of thick bready sweetness that gets to be a bit much after a while but balanced by the spices, tasty for a sweet sticky mess, no telling what age will do to this beer
