Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

Shared a bottle of this with my older brother. Don’t know why it took me this long to get the rating on here, but now I have. Aroma is extremely floral, spicy with a nice kick of fruity esters, tropical frutis. Flavor has a great hop profile, solid malt backbone, vanilla and cloves. Long bitter finish. I should be able to put together a nice veritcal in 2013.

Sampled one of the last of these I could find last year in October. Great brew like always. Nice and strong. Golden brown with thin lacey head. Pours with a big aroma and lots of sweet hops. Great brew as always.

On tap at Rattle’n’Hum. A Belgian styled ale hopped more like an American ale. SPicy and intricate. Different then most belgians was a nice change.

On tap at Rattle’n’Hum. Fresh, floral hop aroma. A hoppy, big Belge and Yankee blend. Stone seems to like that mix of influences. Pretty dry and spicy with some esters. Hot, hoppy finish. Another very fine brew from Stone.

As always, the Vertical Epic line is a treat. This one has great flavors of select hops, corriander spices, pepper, and banana. It has quite a spice and some alcohol tones. I enjoyed drinking this but after a few beers, this one hit me hard. Great buzz!!
