Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

Pours a clear golden yellow with a thick creamy white head. Fruity tangerine, biscuit, musty and estery aroma. Light but complex. Taste is smooth and malty, yeasty with a nice blend of citrusy hops. Quite a nice Belgian ale with good complexity and taste.

Bottle... Poured golden with a white head. Lots of esters and clove notes with a citrus hop punch to it and spiced fruits in the finish.

Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a pint glass. The color is a very light yellowish gold color with a foamy white head. Also has some nice lacing. The smell is sweet, a peppery, floral hop feel. The taste was sweet as well, a nice malty flavor. with some nice hop feel. A great floral flavor. The mouthfeel is really even, smooth and is quite easy drinking. This is anther good Stone beer. It is full flavor and it really great beer.

Pours a lacing white head with a golden body containing fine particulates. Smells like spices, banana, and yeast. Flavor is yeasty, some barnyard, banana, clove, and spicy hops. Smooth, somewhat bitter finish.

Belgian strong ale with elements of amerian ale and german wheat. There self description is quite accurate: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end.

Very clearly a belgian style from the get go with a crystal yellow pour topped with a frothy white head. Aroma was of belgian spices and yeast but the taste packed some pepper spicy flavors as well. Should age ok.

The new and improved vertical epic! A very floral belgian style ale with a slight sweetness to it. Great aroma, great flavor. Buy it if you can find it and hope for good things for 09.09.09!
