Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

22oz bottle from local store. Pours deep golden color with lots of bubbles and frothy white head. Fruity aroma with notes of apricot. Refreshing and complex flavor with apricot, cloves, and banana coming to the forefront. Relatively strong alcohol presence, but not too overwhelming.

Pours a cloudy gold with medium thin head. Aroma of citrusy hops, spices, and biscuit. Taste is sweet with a hop bite and a spicy finish. Not bad at all.

22oz bottle. Bright golden color, bright white foamy head. Big citrus, Amarillo hop aroma with lots of clove. Grapes and pine. Wowo. I cant stop smelling it. Very complex. Doesn’t taste how it smells. Very dry. Straw and bitter hops. Lots of citrus, a little pine. Complex, dry and bready. Both a Belgian Ale with the West Coast IPA hops. whoo. Good. My fave of the epics.

Bottle. Clear golden with a medium head. Complex aroma promising banana, clove, pepper as well as citrussy hops. Good citrussy and peppery flavours blending with fruit. Very bitter. The best of both worlds- West Coast IPA meeting a complex Belgian tripel.

One of the better Verticals. Pour was a nice light cloudy golden color. Arom was tons of light fruits, pears floral hops. Flavor was much the same. Very good mouthfeel was a little off to dry for me.

Pour from 22oz is mostly clear yellow with creamy head white head and some lacing. Tart nose a little fruit, a little yeast. Medium body that sticks in the back of the throat. Taste of spice, hops and alcohol.

Pours just a slightly hazy golden into the glass, with a nice pillowy eggshell head that leaves soapy lace. Fruit and yeasty notes to the nose, which gives the bouquet a banana and melon hint, with some spice hues. The flavors are nicely integrated, of mellow citrus, some yeast, rind/zest notes, and pie spices. The drier notes show forth toward the finish, introducing a nice closing crisp hop and lingering with just a hint of alcohol. A lively mouthfeel makes this definitively quaffable, going down easily. Although maybe not the most highly complex brew, Stone has come away with a very good offering here... it just pulls off as well-integrated and linear from the beginning to the end of the pull.

Bottle shared at tasting. Thanks! Pours a clearish gold color. Smell is fresh, hoppy, fruity and bright with light belgian candi sugar. Taste is candi sugar, bubble gum and fruity hops. Medium body and carbonation. Much better than the 07 07 07. Tasty, and surprisingly much better than expected, but not one to age, in my opinion.
