Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

Thin head which dissipated quickly. Light carbonation. Very fruity aroma. Strong pear and pineapple. Some citrus hops and light malts. Color is a slightly hazy bright orange. Light and tart flavor. More pear and pineapple along with some light grassy malts and a solid bitterness that plays very nicely with the fruit. Finishes clean. A very good golden belgian ale. Me LIKEY!!!

mmm... tasty Belgian backed with some lovely west coast hops. Aroma of apples, some banana, some faint alcohol. Appearance is somewhat cloudy golden yellow with a frothy white head. Some noticeable yeast. Flavor is chewy and rich for something this new. Probably will get better with time. Very drinkable, but friends who had it felt like it was maybe a bit too strong.

Bottle. Golden with a small head. Aromas are smoky with biscuit malts and citrus. Some pineapple with yeast and woody notes. Peppery. Flavours are tropical fruit and yeast with lots of pepper and strong alcohol. Decent.

22oz bottle-pours a rich white head that laces and hazy yellow/gold color. Aroma is pine/citrus hops, some mange, coriander/pepper, medium malt-bready. Taste has a lot going on. Perfumy/spice/citrus hops-somewhat bitter, spice-too much, black pepper (which dominates and detracts), some medium malt/grainy, yeast. Dry. OK for sipping. Some alcohol comes through. Thanksjwc215 for picking this out.

A bit sweet for my taste and I hate to pan anything by Stone Brewery but this missed the mark for me. Too sweet for my palate.

On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark yellow golden color with a one finger white head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is ripe fruit, caramel and honey with phenol and hop notes. Flavor is slightly spicy and floral with notes of banana, citrus, apricot, malt, and hops. Generally medium body with a floral and hop finish.
