Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

Pours a golden color with a large white head. Smelled of citrus and sweet malt. Hoppy beer with a hint of spice. Full bodied beer with a bitter finish. Good beer.

Sampled more than one time at GABF 08, bright yellow gold color, with a fluffy white head, nice floral hop leafy, lemon peel, citrusy nose, with some coniferous, piney accents, with a faint yeasty, honeyed pale malt, spicy aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a flowery hop, fruity, citrusy grapefruit, sweet honeyed pale malt, warmth character, with some candied lemon peel, zesty accents, with a mild piney, grassy, cedary note, with a pinch of nutmeg spiciness, leading towards a warming, fruity, citusy, candyish, lingering hop bitterness finish.

22oz. pours golden with small white head. aroma is a soft hoppiness with some spice in the background. mouthful is a big cross of hop and spice in a nice balanced way. there are hints of fruit as well as some citrus and clove, lots going on. one of the best hoppy belgians i have had.

Bottle. Been nursing this one for the past 3 hours at least. And not because its good. Because, well, I just dont really enjoy drinking it. The aroma is hot and hoppy, with mild bready, estery notes. In the mouth this is sweet, syrupy, rather light, and very lacking in carbonation. Little head to speak of, pretty much no bubbles rising. It wasnt flat/bad, it just is not a very carbonated beer. Completely filtered, for some reason. I have no idea how they intend for this to age for 4 years, it will be dead in two.

This brew is thick, heavily carbonated and has a bittersweet flavor. Despite all the hoppiness, the beer doesnt leave a bitter aftertaste. It pours a light golden color with a small head. I wouldnt proclaim the brew to be epic, but is certainly a fine beer worth a try if you see it this year.

Pours bright golden with a big fluffy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, hop resins, peach, mango, and pears. Taste is sweet citrus, mango, melons, and spicy yeast. Full bodied with lush carbonation and a slightly resinous aftertaste. Fairly hefty and aggressive, with a big hop finish.

Thanks for sharing, Mark. Bright gold body with a lightly off white head. Medicinal with some herbs and orange peels. The taste was sweet with some orange peels and herbs. There was also some black pepper spice. Decent, but far from exciting.
