Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

22 oz Bottle from local retailer. Pours gold with medium head and slightly cloudy. Initial taste is very spicy - nutmeg and clove. Quite hoppy as well. WOW is all I can say. Was going to save some for my wife but...

Gold with a white head. Aroma is spicy, coriander, nutmeg, yeast, light maltiness. Much like 040404 fresh, taste is yeasty, light bitterness, clove, nutmeg.

Pours a pale gold with a white head that’s OK. Coriander and citrus aroma. Sweet candy, citrus, pine, cloves and an assertive bitterness. French Farm Ale meets Belgian Trippel. Interesting.

Bottled At SBWF08. Pours out in a slightly hazy golden color with a small white foam. Sweet, yeas, quite sugary aroma of oranges, red apples and apricots with notes of cumin and cinnamon. Full-bodied with a strong but still with unrefined and raw sugary flavours of candied oranges, soap and asprcots. Spicy finish of cinnamon with notes of flowers, tangerine and alcohol. I’m not overly impressed. A tad better than the 070707.

This one is all about Marvin Gaye smoothness and style. No big deal aroma, no big deal look. What a big deal with the silky delivery and finish. Grassy, mildly yeasty, apricot butter and velvety all the way. Mild smell and taste but quality all the way. Thanks for the offering. 22 oz. 2008.

This is the best of the Verticals. Others were too bitter and horrible finishes. This seems to be the lightest of the group.
