Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

Pours a clear golden color with a nice frothy head. Slight citrus aroma with a hint of some spices and caramel. Nice, balanced flavor. Some spice, as well as a bit of yeast and some citrus. Another great vertical epic from Stone.

Bottle from South Bay Drugs and Liquor. The ale is colored as a solid golden hue with a dense appearance and a fluffy patch of foam. The nose is a spicy aroma of Belgian yeast with a slight notice of perfumed hops as well as soap in a distant background. The flavor is sweet nectar of hops blended so well with the strain of yeast that it’s just incredibly tasty and well spiced. As for the palate, it’s a war of carbonation occurring across the tongue yet easily quaffable. The drink earns a strong score with me and reminds me a little of the vertical epic 2004 which I so longed to taste fresh again.

Pours a clear gold hue with a small white head that never quite goes away. Aroma is full of yeast, honey, and clove. Throw in a dab of pepper. Nice! Flavor offers more pepper spice and more bitterness than the aroma would indicate. Likewise with hops. This is a well hopped beer bringing pine flavor and bitterness. Clove and banana show up as the beer warms. Finished peppery. Very good.

beautiful pour into my duvel tulip! Wicked aroma! lots of spicy american hops, some nice citrus notes, and some subtle pepperiness. There is also a nice creamy sweetness that mixes very well with the citrus from the hops. The flavour is so nice, lots of nie hops, spicy, and lots of citrus, but there are nuances of cloves, and some slight wood notes. Incredibly drinkable, such a nice beer!
