Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

Pours golden with a white head. Aroma was very inviting with hops, fruit, alcohol, bread, and spice. Taste was even more inviting. First, you are taken in by the delicious taste of fruit and bread backed by delicious hops. Then you get the taste of sugars, slight citrus, and malt. A lingering alcohol warmness finishes it all off. I got more than I expected out of this beer.

Aroma of chardonnay grapes, white wine-like with candi sugar. Pours blonde with no head. Flavor starts with chardonnay, sweet malts, a little sulphury with hints of pine with hints of spice in the finish. excellent beer!

Pours a clear golden color with a soapy white head that leaves some lacing. The nose is full of grassy hops, banana/clove, white pepper and some NW hop resin. The flavour is heavily hopped, boozy, and very spicey, with a lot of emphasis on the pepper and some apple/pear notes. The Belgian bubble gum yeast is there, but masked by booze and resin hop zest. The bitterness is a bit medicinal, like baking soda. The palate is sharp and a little hot. I’d like to try this a few years later.

Deep golden color with nice foamy white head. Clear in look smell is belgian, yeast, fruit, and malts, and hops. Taste is sweet, alchol, some hops bitterness at the back of the throat.

Pours a good golden color. Smell is yeasty with good spice notes and a huge hops presence. Flavor is hoppy and spicey... Probably my favorite Vertical so far!

bottle - Pours golden with a one finger head. It has a yeasty, spicy, hop heavy aroma. The flavor is exactly what it says, a hopped up Belgian golden. Belgian style yeast and pale malt are joined by very ample earthy hops. It definitely puts me in mind of Chouffe Houblon though it’s been a long time since I had that one so it could just be because a heavily hopped Belgian ale is unusual. It’s medium bodied and finishes very dry. While good, I don’t think the hops profile is really my favorite type. Maybe it will meld together a bit better after some aging.

2008 Bottle - Pours golden with a small off white head, minimal lacing...aroma is incredible, wheat, spice, hops an sunshine,wonderful...flavour is a different story...immediately tastes chemically bitter, spice stays present but this brew is kinda messy... I only hope 5 years in a bottle will help this one out............

(Bottle 65 cl) Pours almost clear with tiny impurities and an off-white head with some lacing. Intense and spicy yeast aroma. Quite full-bodied, sweetish fruity with distinct yeast notes, lots of diacetyl and very herbal almost medicinal accents. Not really impressing at all. 180908
