Commercial Description:
The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a pint glass. The color is a very light yellowish gold color with a foamy white head. Also has some nice lacing. The smell is sweet, a peppery, floral hop feel. The taste was sweet as well, a nice malty flavor. with some nice hop feel. A great floral flavor. The mouthfeel is really even, smooth and is quite easy drinking. This is anther good Stone beer. It is full flavor and it really great beer.

A very citrus aroma. Orange, lemon and lime. This is a great hopped-up triple. Thick with a good spicy and hoppy flavor. It seems to start like a triple and finish like an imperial IPA.

Bottle from South Bay Drugs and Liquor. The ale is colored as a solid golden hue with a dense appearance and a fluffy patch of foam. The nose is a spicy aroma of Belgian yeast with a slight notice of perfumed hops as well as soap in a distant background. The flavor is sweet nectar of hops blended so well with the strain of yeast that it’s just incredibly tasty and well spiced. As for the palate, it’s a war of carbonation occurring across the tongue yet easily quaffable. The drink earns a strong score with me and reminds me a little of the vertical epic 2004 which I so longed to taste fresh again.

A spicy hop nose with some lingering light fruits. Flavor is a massive dose of the freshest american hops ive had, mango fruit, spices. Its like they put together a class A belgian, and an IIPA, and you get this orgasm of a beer. I think the Westy 8 just got an american ass kicking. What can i say, the gargoyle does his job well.

The smell hit my nose before I could raise the glass to take a look, so I’ll give you that first: smells very sweet and creamy, with clove, vanilla, banana, orange and yeast. It poured VERY orange in color, with a small, creamy foam head, about 1 finger, into a trappist glass. The flavor is very complex and bitter, with clove, burnt vanilla, pepper, and resiny citrus hops. Fantastic taste! Palate is dry and long-lastingly bitter. All around an absolutely stunning masterpiece. If I had a cellar, I’d put a case of this in for a few years.
