Commercial Description:
Stone 10th Anniversary IPA harkens back to our earlier Anniversary Ales, with abundant hopping at many stages of the brewing process. Appropriately, the aroma is over-the-top, with pronounced piney and resiny hop flavors combined with tropical fruit esters and more subtle notes of toasted malts and alcohol. Our Stone 10th Anniversary Ale weighs in at 10% alcohol by volume (perfect for a 10th anniversary beer), and has a little more color and malt character than our other IPAs. In addition to using the new Summit hop variety in the brewhouse to provide the powerful bitterness, we went back through our records and found some of our favorite hops over the years, and used them to flavor this brew, including Chinook, Crystal, and large doses of Simcoe in the dry-hop to provide a huge, complex, piney, fruity and floral hop character. This is a colossal beer, big in every sense: hoppy, malty, rich, and strong! Right up our alley.

thanks to Saarlander for the bomber. wonderful aroma of peaches, grapefruit and some pine. appearance was a orangey amber with a fluffy slightly off white head which settled to lace. palate was full and silky smooth. flavor had a strong malt backbone with delicious hops mixed through-out. few beers have been met with such a love it or hate it reaction as this one. while I thought the hop profile could have been more pronounced, overall it was still quite delicious! would love to drink this again...and again...and...

I’ve had this from bottle, draft at the 10th anniversary celebration and finally double-dry-hopped from a growler available only from the brewery. Pours brown amber with a sizable head (from the growler), aroma hits pine and cirtrus hops, sweet malt. Malt profile comes through nicely, somewhat toasty sweet, providing a round mouthfeel with resinous oil hop flavors sliding on the toungue, blending well and providing a serious hop explosion in the finish, just as a heavy dose of alcohol hits. As dipa’s go this one is up there with the best, not the best, but excellent. I do wonder if it would actually be better at a lower abv, say around 8.5%, because as it is, it’s just plain lethal.

served at NYC Brewtopiafest. a hazy amber-brown body with a good sized off-white head. aroma is fresh, of pine, grass, citrus and honey. tastes of an explosion of strong flavors. tangerine, pineapple, orage, hops, honey, pine, mint and a drop of alcohol. completely unexpected.

Bottle, from trade with jimbowood. Good nose, sweet & sour. Grainy, woody, citrus, honey, cobweb mustiness. Hazed brownish orange color, small head (though I poured slowly as it looked like it might go big if I wasn’t careful) good lace. Bitter flavor, like aroma, with the grapefruit & mustiness ruling. Little whisky buttery thing too. Medium body, Smooth oily creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. It’s good, but I don’t like that musty/cobweb thing so it knocks down the overall score for me.

one of the hoppiest IPAs I’ve tasted. Tons of grapefruit on the palate with a touch of honey and a lingering sweetness through a very hoppy, bitter finish. Outstanding ale.

Bottled. Clear, honey colored body w/big off-white head, giant in size, sticky lace. Aroma is rich and malty, yeasty and hoppy. Smells sweet and wonderful like Yulesmith. Touch of alcohol in aroma. Body is fullish with light carb and a nicely dry finish. Flavor is rich: sweet caramel and honey with noticeable hops in a floral presence, leaving behind a pollenated and lovely finish. Delicious. Coylingly sweet. Man it’s good tho. In spite of ABV, it’s sessionable--it’s that tasty. Reminds me SO much of Yulesmith, but missing a few key components (orange and all that yeastiness!) and with more alcohol. The alcohol is invisible. Mmmm...good.

Poured a dark amber color. Aroma was wow grapefruit big time and some pine hops. Flavor was much the same with fruits and caramel in there to balance it out. Alcohol was very hot. Solid beer not my fav DIPA.

I have had a few bottles of this, plus had it on tap. This is simply a fantastic double IPA! Count me in on wanting them to make this a regular release. Full hop aroma and flavor dance on my taste buds. It has all the great character of the best DIPA’s. They describe it as colossal and i agree. I’m glad I bought a case when it was released so I can periodically enjoy this masterful piece of work.
