Commercial Description:
Stone 10th Anniversary IPA harkens back to our earlier Anniversary Ales, with abundant hopping at many stages of the brewing process. Appropriately, the aroma is over-the-top, with pronounced piney and resiny hop flavors combined with tropical fruit esters and more subtle notes of toasted malts and alcohol. Our Stone 10th Anniversary Ale weighs in at 10% alcohol by volume (perfect for a 10th anniversary beer), and has a little more color and malt character than our other IPAs. In addition to using the new Summit hop variety in the brewhouse to provide the powerful bitterness, we went back through our records and found some of our favorite hops over the years, and used them to flavor this brew, including Chinook, Crystal, and large doses of Simcoe in the dry-hop to provide a huge, complex, piney, fruity and floral hop character. This is a colossal beer, big in every sense: hoppy, malty, rich, and strong! Right up our alley.

Ahhh, this was quite tasty. Amber colour with an eggshell like head. The hops are very apparent in the aroma, Pine hops with some resiny qualities, there are some apricots as well. The flavour is wonderful, exploding with hops, but not overly bitte rlike some double IPAs. Smoth, well balanced, flavourful, just a great beer. I’m glad I grabbed a few of them!

[bottle] Pours a very dark copper color, with a lumpy white head. Aroma of rich, dense hops, sharp and fierce on the nose. Taste is so damn hoppy, almost skunky, with quite a bit of fruitness behind it all. Peaches, mango and plenty of citrus fruits make up a majority of the flavors. Nice substantial alcohol heat. Not as much malt as I expected, which tips the scale in the hop’s favor, but I’m into it. This is a hop bomb in every sense of the word.

Poured orange with a dirty white head. Aroma was HUGE grapefruit. Just sweet hoppy grapefruit goodness. It tasted weak at first, but gets stronger with every sip. The flavor is again BIG grapefruit that starts sweet and fades to a bitter hop finish. Great body and hop character.

Pours a bright amber into a Stone IPA glass. White micro head recedes to skim surface. Deep, sweet pine, resin and grapefruit aromas. Creamy with upfront pine and a lasting grapefruit finish.

As is the distinction with Arrogant Bastard, I wouldn’t really call this an IPA. Its got way too much malt character and in my opinion, a slightly muted hop character-especially in the nose. I mail ordered 6 bombers, and I’m excited. Very nice beer-sort of like Double Bastard, but a bit more hoppy. Rockin stuff....

Thanks to Brock_Landers for this one. Pours dark coppery with 1-finger sticky head. Aroma of piney hops, caramel malt, some spicy black pepper and fruit notes. Tastes extremely hoppy, with notes of mango, tangerine, caramel malt, and feety earthy notes. Tastes a lot like a mixture of weyerbacher Double Simcoe and 11th Anniversary. Gets a bit hot as it warms, and the malts fall out a bit, causing a slight unbalanced heat, and this one is a true hop bomb. I’ll be doing a side by side with this and Weyerbacher DS and 11th later. Is this a top 50 beer? I’d have to say no. It is a great IIPA, but I’ve had many that are as good or better. Still, if I could find this, I’d buy a case or two in a heartbeat. I’m sure this one will age extremely well.

Translucent golden-amber appearance; big-bubbled head formation with good retention and intricate lacing. Huge hoppy nose, showing grapefruit, further citrus, and a floral character. (My fiance says it smells like cat pee, but I’m ignoring her. "I’m sure they didn’t use any," she reassures me.) An intense, balanced bitterness emerges through passion fruit, citrus, piney notes and a sweet malt presence; the finish is complex, showing both a layered bitterness and a lasting sweetness. ("Go and smell the kitty box," she concludes.) This beer will level out even more with a bit of age behind it. An excellent effort.

The main attraction of the tasting and #1 brew.dark amber color, small off white head .Piney, citrus and apricot aroma.Very nice flavor of pine apricot and hops. The brew actually manages to come off as being fairly smooth with the hops and very tasty without being overwhelming or onesided.Outstanding brew all around and well worth have many more.
