High chocolate, smooth body, coffee, roasted, cocoa, light sweetness, licorice, powerfull, berries, sharpness, hoppy. Lovely...... Again: #07 - Amerikaner Blind-Smagning 12-Jun-2009 hos Papsoe. Bottle. (7/4/8/4/15) nuplastikk (1158), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 28, 2008 500ml bomber bottle. Thick black color, with an small but attractive orange-brown head. Pleasant chocolate aroma. Creamy and thick on the palate, certainly not overly bitter. In fact, the hops just minimally balance out the rich roasted and chocolate malt tastes. Very easy to drink for a beer of it’s strength. One of the best Chocolate Stouts I’ve had. ehhdayton (1113), USA Oct 28, 2008 Pours a deep dark black with a tan head. Aroma is of chocolate and some fruit with a slight roastedness in the background. Flavor is dark chocolate and a mild hint of roasted malt. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Oct 27, 2008 Deep brown, nearly black, with a dark, dusky head that leaves tiny bead lacing all over the side of the glass. On the nose, a little leather, some savory herbs, like sage and thyme, but an overwhelming light chocolate. Bright palate, nice acidity, slick mouthfeel and a bitter chocolate finish that grows as you consume the beer. Flavors are peaty and leathery, like scotch, with the bitterness of chocolate nibs. There is no attempt to hide the alcohol on the beer, and that’s just fine with me, as it’s obviously done on purpose to heighten the bittering flavor and really matters on the palate. A very good beer -- I’m appreciative of the thought and effort that must have gone into making it. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 26, 2008 A deep dark stout with a thin moka head, viscous appearance. Sweet chocolate aroma, chalky, licorice, and alcohol. In mouth, a bitter chocolate, chalky and powdery, smotth hops, rich and pleasing. Bottle at American Flatbread, Post Vermont Brewfest Dinner, July 19 2008 with TaktikMtl and Goldorak.
kyzr (1119), Belgrade, Montana, USA Oct 25, 2008 Bottle thanks to BMan1113VR. Pours dark brown with big brown head. Nose has chocolate and roasted malt on the nose. Flavor has a nice bitter bite up front with chocolate and coffee. Nice mouthfeel with nice bite on the finish as well. dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Oct 25, 2008 Pours jet black with a mottled dark brown head. The head dissipates quickly leaving a silky smooth beer with a faint ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is dominated by roasted malts, but the chocolate is pronounced. Mouthfeel is extremely smooth and well rounded, but not to the point of being thick. Dark chocolate and coffee flavors dominate, with alcohol and licorice. Bitterness seems to come more from the roasted malts than hops, as indicated by the salty hints on the back of the tongue. This one is good.
