Pours pitch black with a huge mocha head. aroma is cocoa, some milk chocolate, and some dark roasts. Taste is about the same - some cardboard taste and alcohol brashness. Not too impressed.

Pours a syrupy dark brown/black with a nice two finger creamy brown head, good retention and lacing. Aroma is cocoa, milk and dark chocolate, with some slight roast and caramel. Flavor has more bittersweet chocolate, with some coffee, molasses and a roasty finish. Nice stuff!

Bottle. Pours near black with a brown head. Dark chocolate aroma, mostly bitter with some sweetness, as well as roast and hops. Very lasting creamyness. Roasted and bitter chocolate flavor, just a hint of boozee, with a lasting floraly and roasted bitter finish. Very nice.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 5 Aug 2008) Black colour with brief, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with distinct notes of dark chocolate and cocoa. Roasted, malty tast with dark chocolate, cocoa and liquorice. Long finish with a good cocoa bitterness. Medium to full body, rather dry. Lovely beer!

Thick oily black. Very tasty looking. Aroma is malty, chocolate, rich fruits. Flavor is very reminicent of rich creamy espresso and dark dark chocolate. This is a good one to be patient with and let evolve as it warms up in your glass. The finish is somewhat like burnt bacon. Yum!

Pour is thick black with a foamy brown head. Sweet chocolate and dark fruits are present up front followed by a dry, bitter cocoa finish. Wow, this is really good.
