pours extremely dark with little to no head. aroma of cocao and chcocolate on the nose. slightly bitter 1st impression and follows with extremely smooth chocolate/cocao/creamy notes and a wonderful rich mouth feel. despite an over 9%, alcohol is very well hidden. really loved in the bottle and REALLY loved it on tap over at stone brewery. will definitely get more!

Cask, gravity dispense, at the GBBF 2008. ABV was said to be 9.5%. Pitch black colour, minimal head. Complex roasted aroma with notes of oak, dark chocolate, liquorice and tar. Intense flavour of cocoa / chocolate, figs(?) and coffee(?) - I have some difficulties reading my own handwriting here .... Warming mouthfeel, oaky and alcoholic notes. A great sipping beer.

22 oz. brown bomber bottle. Poured out a deep chocolate brown. Aromas are of Devil’s food chocolate crumb cake, Scharffen Berger Dark Cacao bars, some alcohol. Flavors are definitely Scharffen Berger chocolate. I’ll wager that’s what they used in it. Mouthfeel is somewhat rough, not as smooth as an oatmeal stout should be. Plenty of malts round out this beast of a beer. Background flavor of yeast, probably an English strain. Decent stout overall though.

Well I had to go to Vermont to find this in the bottle at a local shop in Stowe. Rating #600. This is a kick ass beer. Pours a jet black with a nice foamy brown head. Aroma is(shocking)all chocolate. I also smell a hint of coffee and maybe some molasses. Taste is dark chocolate, dried dark fruit, coffee and some molasses hints on the nose too. I truly enjoyed this from start to finish.

A great stout, thanks Radek Kliber. Good looks and lacey. Good aroma, a little ourness and hops. Balance in the taste, a sipper, a good bitterness. I will try this with friends again soon.

A Sim rate (gravity cask at GBBF): This beer was the opposite of the old phrase "It does what it says on the tin". It was the anti-thesis of what it said on the tin. Reading "bitter chocolate oatmeal stout", I was convinced this would be my beer of the festival and I b-lined straight to it upon entering, but must admit, I was a bit let-down. Bitter, chocolate, oatmeal it wasn’t. And certainly not hefty enough to be called stout. Aroma of excessive alcohol, whiskey, oil. It’s good, but almost wrong in combination. Oily appearance for some reason. I quite like that. Flavour is good, but just way too alcoholic and oily (again) to be great. No oatmeal in it. And lacking that grainy texture in the palate that usually makes oatmeal stouts so outstanding. It slips down the throat like vegetable oil.. certainly not like stout. I quite enjoyed it to drink, but the whole was not made up of the sum of its slightly-lacking parts.

A black pour throws up a tall, long lasting head of tan. Aroma is dark roast coffee, cocoa powder and alcohol. The flavor is bitter and smooth with a touch of alcohol on the tongue.
