Pleasant mix of roast coffee and chocolate in the nose, full bodied sweet chocolate notes in the mouth with a balance of roasted bitter coffee and a hint of liquorice that lingers sweetly in the finish again to be balanced with a delicate coffee bitterness WeeHeavySD (2990), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2008 Bomber from bev mo. 98 percentile already, wow. Pours black with a 2 finger weirdly brown head, darker brown than normal. Nose is sweet and bitter. Taste is slightly chocolaty and bitter. Alc is well hidden. This could use some age as I’ve already been told. daknole (2959), Plantation, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 15, 2008 Well I had to go to Vermont to find this in the bottle at a local shop in Stowe. Rating #600. This is a kick ass beer. Pours a jet black with a nice foamy brown head. Aroma is(shocking)all chocolate. I also smell a hint of coffee and maybe some molasses. Taste is dark chocolate, dried dark fruit, coffee and some molasses hints on the nose too. I truly enjoyed this from start to finish. JK (2958), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 26, 2008 Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Chocolate and caramel aroma. Chocolate, light roast flavor with some espresso, alcohol, and a bit of raisin. Somewhat fuller bodied. Lingering chocolate, espresso, licorice, alcohol, and earth. Needs aging. I’m betting it’ll become a very nice beer, but it isn’t there yet. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2008 At the "Open Eyes" tasting, pours like motor oil, with a quickly dissapating dark brown head covering a completely black body. Aroma of burnt cereal, bitter choclate, apple-like stuff, and a light hoppiness. Taste is oatmeal, bitter chocolate and lots of burnt coffee beans, and some very forward alcohol towards the finish. Lively bubbles and syrupy mouthfeel. Still very young and very hot! Dogbrick (2864), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 12, 2008 This beer pours blacker than black with a thick brown and foamy head that diminishes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Milk chocolate, grainy malt and oatmeal aroma. Rich smooth body with flavors of dark chocolate, dried fruits, vanilla and roasted malts. The finish is bitter dark chocolate and sweet malt. Overall this beer is not at the top of the charts as far as Imperial Stouts go, however it is well-crafted and enjoyable which is the norm for Stone.
