Pour is beautiful. Very, very, very dry, almost tongue-stuck-to-the-roof-of-the-mouth dry. Very roasty, medium to full bodied, with much bitterness. A pretty sexy beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2008 2008 Bottle - Pours pitch black with a large dark brown head....aroma is cofee, smoke and dk malt...flavour is very similar to the Stone IRS, with the main difference being that subtle bitterness present on the back end...people are calling it bitter chocolate, but I thought it was slightly antiseptic...as it warms the flavours develop, more chocolate the longer you wait...nice alcohol thoroughout...will be a fun new experience in a few years... pineypower (1104), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Thick and black with a dense cocoa colored head that leaves a tremendous amount of lacing. Nose is primarily dark bitter chocolate (as expected). Flavor is roasted and ash-like...a taste reminiscent of a marshmallow engulfed in flames above a campfire. Partially carmelized, mostly burnt sugar. A very tasty beer but not an every day drinker. robforbes (1099), Bremerton, Washington, USA
